Re: JOHN SMITH retires

33 years. Acknowledged he was ready to retire 2-3 years ago, but stuck around to leave the program in a better place.

Re: U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS

One of the biggest injustices in sports = the halving of men's wrestling at the Olympics. Not only is it an original Olympic sport, but it actually has a vibrant community as a sport that is Olympic-centric (as opposed to something like Boxing where Olympics is not the primary focus). Just so incre...

Re: Transfer portal

Question: As athletes commit to colleges earlier and earlier, when exactly does a college commit to an athlete . I'll assume that there is an evaluation early in the process but I suspect acceptance aligns more the EA period. If academics are not maintained or there are behavioral issues, colleges ...

Re: Stanich

Someone had previously implied Crookham might move up a weight, but I have not heard that anywhere else. I take it he is staying put at 133? Stanich will defer next season and move to 141. Seymour will be the starter at 125. Crookham is a 133. Hines and Bailey will battle it out for the starting sp...

Re: Stanich

I still have trouble understanding how McGonagle could not have beaten out Hines for the 141 spot. Either he just shut down when he lost his 133 spot or he was not given the opportunity to displace Hines for whatever reason. It remains a mystery why that talented of a wrestler would not challenge H...

Re: Stanich

Stanich is all about finding a weightclass next year. Can he make the jump to 141? That is going up 16lbs when most guys are coming down 16lbs. A huge difference in strength and type of wrestling. Then he has to win the spot over Hines and Bailey. It is hard to sit NCAA points, but the reality is h...

Re: 2024-2025 Lineup

If Stanich doesnt go 141 this year, I'd like to see Bailey at 141. Hines is talented but Bailey has shown sides of a higher upside, like beating Kal Miller who was #11 at the time. Might be worth rolling the dice on him even if he can't beat Hines in a wrestle-off. Sometimes it's just stylistic. Wh...

Re: Vito's miraculous rejuvenation

Santoro says Luke is done at 125 in his post-EIWA interview. I'll post the link, but you'd need a flo membership to watch it, I couldn't find it on Youtube. https://www.flowrestling.org/video/12283851-pat-santoro-is-recaps-teams-performance-at-eiwa-championships Recall that Santoro questioned wheth...
