Re: Name, Image and Likeness
Lots of assumptions. Why would Midwest teams, with huge athletic dept budgets, opt to join the EIWA? If need be, they could start their own qualifier right where they are. The ACC is not joining the EIWA. Ever. The have 6 really viable programs. Pac 12 teams will qualify out west somewhere. Big 12 ...

Re: Name, Image and Likeness
Recent article from CBS Sports titled: SEC, Big Ten developing plan to share revenue with players in potential landmark change to college athletics Not sure how that would affect wrestling, as the vast majority of the money would go to football players, and secondly to BBall players. But even a smal...

Re: Name, Image and Likeness
“NIL just accelerates that disadvantage by allowing supporters from schools with 5 X the alumni base to add to the disparity.” More like 10-15 times the alumni base. Penn State, for example, has over 40,000 undergraduates in Happy Valley, and over 70,000 undergraduates in all the Penn State campuses...

Re: Name, Image and Likeness
A quick comment on HFO’s post. While finding someone with deep pockets wanting some advertising value in return is probably the “traditional” route for an NIL, it now appears to be an open season that that approaches straight payouts or subsidies with little expected in return other than performing ...

Re: Name, Image and Likeness
Interesting post by Justafan. One thing grabbed my attention - the vast majority of the schools listed that participate in that program sponsor Div I wrestling, whereas the vast majority of Div I schools do not sponsor wrestling. In other words, teams we both compete against and wish to be successfu...

Re: Lehigh Valley Open
Steck was a legend. Ran probably the best overall IM program in the country.
2 questions:
1) When did he retire?
2) Do they still run an IM wrestling tournament? I’m pretty sure the answer to this one is - no, not for quite some time.

Re: U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS
Well,..the men's TEAM is set. A few observations: LEE and his suspect health/knees held up superbly! Hoping he qualifies via Turkey tourney.. RETHERFORD was a surprise in a WIDE-OPEN weight class. DAKE as expected, and a sentimental favorite after his father's recent death. BROOKS take...

Re: Transfer portal
I am thoroughly on the same page as whiz wit that we have young guys that can in fact step it up. I predict that Stanich will not redshirt but bulk up & take the 141 spot from Hines. Stanich is a driven kid with work ethic that will take him to the top of the podium some day. I predict that Gri...
