Re: Saving Gillmore's Job
Top of my list to replace him is Nate Mline, very successful HC at Muhlenberg Milne, Duke Greco (Del Valley), and Jim Clements (Kutztown) are all different flavors of the same profile - lower level guys who win at an extraordinary level. And sustain that winning for an extended period of time. I re...

Gilmore Contract
On other threads, I've seen a few posters ask questions about or make reference to Gilmore's contract. I have no inside info, but I think it's possible he is just on a year-to-year contract. This Lehigh Valley Live (Express-Times) article from 2013, has the following two paragraphs in reference to B...

Re: Fordham
Hey now, let's not be too hard on old Tom. Lest you forget, he did take a different school to the FCS playoffs 13 years ago. Give him some respect.

Re: Monmouth
Can you all stop with the Stambaugh crap! High school is not college. It is quite rare to move to the college ranks as a HC from high school. There is so much more to running a college program. No disrespect to Phil, it's just a fact. I agree with this. Coaching college and high school are two comp...

So, now what?
The Gilmore hire was so obviously horrible from Day 1, I think it raises questions about why he was hired in the first place. The man had an extensive history of mediocrity in the Patriot League and was fired midseason from a peer that is historically worse than Lehigh. It was like the equivalent of...

Re: Lehigh Has Turned Into a Bad Basketball Program
Logie would be a mandatory phone call during any search. So would Kyle Griffin and Dave Paulsen. Kevin Hovde would be interesting - former Columbia, San Francisco, and Richmond assistant who has worked for some very stats and analytics forward program. Somebody from Amaker's Harvard program or Jones...

Re: Lehigh Has Turned Into a Bad Basketball Program
A few have suggested Reed take a role in the athletic department, why do people think he would be good at that? I'm not saying he wouldn't, but what in his background suggests he would be good at fundraising, or hiring coaches, or operations? I've never hear any of the other coaches in the departmen...

Re: Lehigh Has Turned Into a Bad Basketball Program
Definitely agree with StablerBum’s assessment. I was giving Reed the benefit of the doubt but without the CJ/Gabe/Holden era it would be pretty bleak. He did get a title prior to that group, if I recall correctly, but it was a 1 year blip. Nope, he has won one PL regular season title in 14 years (C...

Re: Lehigh Has Turned Into a Bad Basketball Program
Aside from the outlier 4 year stretch where Brett Reed had a future NBA 20+ ppg scorer (best player in league history), the program as been mediocre his entire tenure. Reed is 147-145 overall and 88-80 in the PL without CJ McCollum. With CJ he is 86-43 (37-19). He is a .500 coach who had a generatio...

Re: Penn
When is the last time Sterrett fired a coach in any sport for performance? Has he ever done it? I don't follow all the Olympic sports, but the last coaching change for wins and losses that comes to mind is Sal Mentesana 20 years ago. And he had about 4 years of having among the worst teams in the co...
