Softball - 3 Named Preseason All-League; LU Picked Second

Post by LU808 » Tue Feb 06, 2024 9:51 pm

Three Lehigh softball players were named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team for the 2024 season, announced Thursday by the Patriot League.

Graduate students Josie Charles and Emily Cimino and senior Katelyn Young join nine other Patriot League players on the preseason all-league team.

Lehigh came in second to Boston University in the preseason poll with the Terriers taking home 12 first-place votes compared to Lehigh's singular vote. Army was picked third and received the other first-place vote.

We. will be good this year. BU still has a big edge in pitching with 2 excellent starters. Softball is a pitching centric. Fingers crossedthat a couple of our pitchers can step up this season.

I believe the only 2 players lost in the off-season was Carly B (who was a grad student) and Lily Owens (transfer to BYU).

Newcomers of note so far:
Peyton Sward hitting an amazing .889 (8 for 9) in the Texas tournament
Gracie Smith who hit .417 in her homecoming to TX

It is just a start. It will all come down the final 3 games series in Boston.
