Merrimack

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Merrimack is a solid, fringe Top 40, team. They did hang around with HC but it was the season opener so regardless how great your coach is and the talent advantage, there were inevitably unexpected surprises.

Cahill and Hunt have to figure the offense out. Regardless of the "depth of talent" there are individuals on this team who can make a difference if put in a position to succeed. Cahill and Hunt are both offensive guys, Silbor by all accounts possesses the attributes to be a "good" QB at this level. The skill guys have talent but they aren't without imperfections. The OL remains a concern and with Morita's resume being a bit thin; both need to grow together.

At some point good coaches/a good staff gets their team to overachieve. The great ones do it sooner than later. With that said, next week is a must win. This week is a progress week. Do I think they can beat Marrimack? Absolutely! Do I think they will? Not at this point. Still, this game needs to be competitive for 50-60 minutes imo.

Game is winnable but a bunch of ifs. Is OL healthy? Will QB cut down of on TOs? Running game is for Hunt to fix. Merrimack will not fear our deep game. As yet we don't have one. Merrimack can crowd the box.

We must show improvement from Nova. A competitive game. We gave Nova 3 TDs with our mistakes. No gift TDs

The two INTs were not the QB's fault. One was taken way from the WR by the DB and the other, Silbor, got hit while arm was moving forward causing it to pop up for an easy steal. The OL has to give time.
Merrimack is a solid team and has shown that last week and in past two years. Lehigh needs to play with a sense of urgency and taking it to the opposition. Too much on their heels last week. I am expecting a tight game, which can be decided by an TO or special team play.

LEHIGH AT MERRIMACK 9/9/2023: Game Preview And Fearless Prediction: Mountain Hawks Head to Andover To Try To Spoil Warriors' Home Opener

I'll be honest - I hadn't thought a lot about Merrimack since they left Murray Goodman with that 10-3 defeat back in 2019.

Thanks, LFN, for posting the link to what appears to be a way to watch the game for free on NEC:

Two starting linemen are out....not good.

Aiden Palmer hit the turf but doesn't look like it is serious.

WR need to hang onto the ball - several dropped passes.

Need better ball security.

Nicely run drive to take 7-3 lead at halftime. Silbor finding his sea legs with some nice passes. Running game struggling but more likely OL issue.

Great way to close out the half! Nice to see the team build some positive momentum. Defense has been excellent...

You spoke too soon :D

14-6 even better ... seeing lots of good stuff, but Merrimack is no 'Nova.

Can any historians out there tell us the last time, if ever, there was a gameday snafu that caused such a long delay and move to another field?
