Bucknell Rumor

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Bucknell Rumor

Rumor in the air supply is that Dave Cecchini will be the new HC at Bucknell. Take it for what it is worth.

Well Buckies will finally have an O, if true.
Footballscoop reported OC Cahill from Yale took the job. Post was later deleted.

Did Bucknell get new players? How will the offense get better? So we should assume that previous offensive coaches were not smart at Bucknell and that’s why the offense was bad?

The previous offensive scheme was definitely bad. Susan wanted to play grind-it-out football, with no innovation or trickery. Run between the tackles, never throw deep, incredibly basic pass routes (think a mediocre HS team), no read options, etc. Unfortunately he didn't have a dominant OL or a super QB to pull it off - plus this year was destroyed by injuries, to the point where they had no real RB - just a 170 lb freshman who should have been only a third down back. Team should be better next year. If nothing else, they should get back two very good RB's and a lot of other guys who missed a lot of time this year.

Interesting as a rumor as it would make sense for Buckie to look for someone with an offensive bent. However, as Chick got a contract extension the other year, I wonder whether BU would be willing to pay Valpo for the loss. I also wonder whether Chick would think his future may be better set up if remained at Valpo another year or so, where he is highly thought of in turning the program around, and where his wife is a coach, for a better opportunity.

So a lot going on here. FootballScoop reported that Chick was taking the job at Bucknell. But no confirmation from the Bison, and Chick's Twitter account has just gotten re-activated and retweeted a bunch of Valpo commits. So hard to say what's happening.

Seems there may be an offer but not an acceptance as of right now.
If true, mixed emotions for me. Glad for Dave . It would be odd to face him in the PL.
I have no doubt Dave can build an O quickly at Bucknell. They have gotten good QB prospects last year and this. Give him a half ass OL and a couple of WRs and he will have a version of his AirLehigh.

I guess we will find out who made the better hire... Only time will tell. My guess is Bucknell is more of a project than Lehigh. Happy for Cecchini.
