COMMIT #27

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

COMMIT #27

Post by RichH » Thu Feb 14, 2019 2:16 pm

Grayson Crozier. LB. 6'0 205. Navy ( St.Thomas Acquinas HS Fl)
A 2* OLB along with his brother Coleman coming out of STA. 10 offers. Navy commit. Spent this year at NAPS. Reopened his recruitment a few weeks ago.
We came close last year. We are lucky to have him this year..
His brother also left and is going to the U of Florida. He is an ILB at 6'1 230.

This young man is the real deal. Fast and tough. For comparison think Caslow.

wow, HUDL shows him at 4.6 speed, but he looks quicker in his videos, + a year at NAPS to mature, seems like a really good get, welcome Grayson!

An unusual recruiting year. This is the first time that I am aware of that Lehigh has had 2 FBS decommits on its recruit roster.

given all the staff issues, this is looking like a very positive class, and largest class in quite some time

More offers out today, so I'm guessing we are not done yet. :D

Great get...I'm giving TG and staff high marks for both quantity and quality especially considering the circumstances. I look forward to a full recruiting season next year.

What's interesting to me is that his brother is 6-1 230# and will be an ILB at Florida. If he came here, we would make him a DE like every other 230#er. Just once I would would love that big body clogging up the running lanes up the middle. Just my thought.

He is enrolled at Florida. My guess a WO.
I liked having guys like Groom at LB. Remember when Flizak was still a LB. Our LBs averaged 230 lbs and over 6'3 . That was the 3-4. In this set LBs supposed to be fast and athletic more than heavy.. Scheme has changed multiple times over the last 5 years. Not one was good.
Any scheme will work with coaching and the right players. Perhaps we will get those 2 things in sync for once.

I like the 4-3 if you can get 2 big tackles and 2 DE with quickness and let the LBs slash to the ball

We have done well with the 4-3 and the 3-4. We are short LBs right now.but a 4-3 might work. Otherwise we stay with some variety of 4-2.
Hindsight for all these scheme changes over the last 5 years. Were we trying to fix our D by new schemes rather than by recruiting better players. While not as pronounced as the Small era, we have put most of our full rides on the O. Just wonder.
