Offensive Line

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

I mean come on folks..that is not how the real world works. Ask Kelly Bryant...benched with a 16-2 record for a true freshman.
I sense that you believe someone else should be in the #1 spot? This is something you've consistently questioned this summer.

I simply trust the kid and the staff if he's indeed the guy. If he's not the starter then I'll assume someone else had a helluva a camp and earned the gig.

I remember when a 2x LU-LC MVP was benched in favor of Lum. Like Kelly Bryant he opted to transfer.
No I do not have an evaluation to share, I hope I have been clear in my comments. Just want to see LU Football back on top where it belongs. We need our edge back and that comes via fighting and competing. There is no secret in that formula.

Brad put up crazy numbers off the bench when Shaf was hurt to earn his position as heir apparent. Much different situation.
I think we all want to win. You'll find that most people who post here really support the program. At some point you have to trust the staff and talent level on the roster. Depth will be a concern imo but the 2-deep should be good enough to win the league. The OOC schedule is not that difficult. 3-2 has to be the worst case scenario.

This team should do damage in the PL so long as Gilmore and the OC/DC are up to task. He has no where to hide now. He got his shot at redemption at what I believe is a superior program to Holy Cross. Time to get things rolling.

personally, I think this team goes as far as the OL carries them, RB and WR are talented, QB just needs to be sound and take care of the ball, D should be improving (no where to go but up)

Agreed the D is well ahead of the O. However, it did seem that at this time they are still giving all players same amount of reps as they do their evaluations. This can have a more disruptive impact on an offense as opposed to a defense. Monaco, in my mind is the starter. Throws a nice ball and seems in control. I was impressed with Lucas at RB and think he may be the #1 back up at this point. Frosh WR made a nice TD catch back of the end zone, I think thrown by Brescomer.
Still concerned about kicking game. Devine has no consistency in either PK or Punting. Had a couple nice hangers in the red zone, though. Really shanked a FG attempt--probably tried too hard as it was a challenging distance for him~45 yards. The frosh kicker was crisp on a 31 FG and an XP. Wouldn't be surprised to see him do the PK and Devine the KO's. They better get the punting squared away because we may be doing a fair amount of it.
The backup QBs biggest problem, to me, was their failure to get rid of the ball. Cost was several sacks and one which took the team out of FG range after getting down to near the 20. Trips into the red zone may be at a premium this year, so maintaining field position will be important.
Secondary played well. Nice tight coverage. Aggressive. Again, good pressure by the DL. Upcoming week will be very important as by next weekend the starting lineup and primary backups should be determined so the units stay together in prepping for SFU.

Don't know why "it" posts a prior post of mind rather than what I wrote. This site is driving me nuts.
