Re: Nova
The secondary personnel were impressive in camp, including a number of frosh, so not surprised. Message being sent. The best will play. Competition makes everyone better. The blown coverages against SFU may have a roll in the decisions as well.
Re: Nova
Speaking of sending a message, did Burbage and Jordan start at WR last week?
I thought that they were the intended receivers for the first 3 pass attempts.

Re: Nova
Burbage definitely. Not sure on Jordan but he was in early on. Surprised that Dambach didnt see the field til the 2nd half.
Re: Nova
He's been banged up. They are using him "judiciously". Would expect limited action this week, too. Must say TG and crew seemed to have done an excellent job of recruiting this large freshmen class. There was significant attrition with the transition. A number of former players not wanting to do what it takes to get better. So, we will be a bit 'thin' and 'young' this year and likely next, but hopefully the bigger picture comes into focus.
Re: Nova
Thanks n.
Makes sense. I'd rather have him healthy.
A smal senior class. Even smaller if Motley and Monaco take 5ths. A large number of WOs and PWOs. We will lose more than a few. Cant say definitely but I dont see us having a lot of schollie money available for next year.

Re: Nova
starting line up was a 2 TE set, Bibs and Jorge were 2 WRs
Re: Nova
Thanks van.
I wasn't following all that closely but I thought the first drive was a run for no gain, Inc pass to Burbage and another incomplete pass to Burbage. The two passes seemed pretty accurate but the defender made a play both times. Could have used a bit more zip.
Of course I was relying on the public address announcer

Re: Nova
Actually, the critique also needs to look at the receiver. He did not extend his arms to the ball, but allowed ball to come to him. That gives the defender just enough room to stick the arm in there to knock away. Burbage is a great athlete, but green as a receiver. Heard he was primarily a QB in high school. Has a great upside.TMH wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 8:34 pm Thanks van.
