Lehigh vs. BYE 9/21
Re: Lehigh vs. BYE 9/21
Or continue into town. Greekers or a burger at the Ho. Or walk over to Broad St for a Hoagie. Us older guys would drive over to Wheeler's for a change of diet. Healthy food. Yup
Re: Lehigh vs. BYE 9/21
As long as we are reminiscing, Wheeler's was legendary on campus because they were open on Sunday's, and late. My second year a sophomore fraternity pledge was invited to tag along with older brothers to Wheelers. A bit later the pledge wondered why the car was west bound on rte. 22, if they were going to Wheeler's?? The brothers replied, "We didn't say Wheeler's, we said Wheeling..." And the kidnapping was on....
And on a sad note:
Lucille M. Wheeler
Lucille M. Wheeler, 76, of Macungie, died March 6, 2006, in her home. She was the wife of the late Chester L. Wheeler. Lucille and her husband were the owners of the former Wheelers Diner on Union Boulevard in Allentown. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Rinker) Warren.

Admit I get a bit jealous of kids now with finals before Christmas and 4-5 of down time.. Guess it balances a bit since we had kegs of beer and 40+ paries to chose from on campus. Completely different environment now. I am told that Lehigh was a unnatural culture back then. Perhaps but I dont regret any of it. Well, maybe that finals thing. . Still irksome.
