Tyler has decided to graduate on time and enter the transfer portal with 2 years eligibility. Wish him the best of luck.

How would he get two years of eligibility? Injury one year? Not playing one year?

Maybe handwriting on the wall....underclassmen may be better than public imagines.....with another spring and summer camp under belt - real competition for Tyler.

maybe he wants to go to grad school and get his way paid, seems like a reasonable idea

NCAA rule is 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility.
Tyler didnt see the field as the #4 GB as a frosh.
Soph he appearex in 3 games
Junior missed season due to injury..
My guess is he gets a NCAA redshirt for his soph year having appeared in only 3 games.
Junior year a med redshirt.

So with Tyler leaving what is the Board consensus about our QB prospects for 2020?

Speculating. Beesmer likely the 1 going into Spring. Shoup then Somerville. Nigel has the biggest upside IMO. Has all the physical tools. Can he QB is the question to be answered. Beesmer decent passer. Very good movement in pocket and a good scrambler/ runner. He showed a lot of improvement from his 1st to 2nd games.
Shoup a superior runner and a pretty accurate if limited passer. Dont think he is the guy to build a program on. A reliable option tho.
Shapiro from his video is a more complete QB. Athletic with an above avg arm.

All the best for Tyler. I think he's making the right decision for him. He knows he's not playing on Sundays and getting a grad degree completely paid for somewhere is a good deal. I think he also sees the coaches looking to the future and Beesmer's improving performance and running ability, along with Summerville's athletic ability influenced his decision.
I think there will be a wide open competition for starting QB next year. Though the spring 'game' is not much of a barometer anymore, twill be interesting to watch the skill sets compete.
