ESD 12/18-20

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

ESD 12/18-20

Post by RichH » Sun Dec 15, 2019 7:03 pm

Going into next week we have 12 verbals .
At least 18 off this year's roster including the 2 transfers. It may be 19 depending on Chadbourn's status.
On O we lose
OL. 4
K/P. 1
TE. 1
RB. 1(2}
WR. 1
QB. 1
On D we lose
DL. 3
LB. 3
DB. 3
At most we have 65 returning. Given the large number of WOs I expect we will have less.

Holy Cross has separated themselves from the entire PL in recruiting....meanwhile, Lehigh getting PWOs. Looking like the January/February period going to be very important for the Mountain Hawks.

Cross has 20 verbals including a very large contingent of highly recruited and ranked prospects. An outstanding class. At present no other PL team has a group even remotely comparable. For that matter neither does most of the CAA. :D
There are still a lot of very good prospects available in the offers list. We do need to get more than a few of them.
Clear roster needs bodies but it is much more urgent to recruit more talent. PWOs and WOs are crapshoots. Many come and go but you do get a gem on occasion.
TG does have a solid base of returning players albeit mostly young. Last season frustating to say the least. Injuries, youth and a revolving door at QB sum up the year. Even with just a little bit of offense we could have been 7-4.
I agree with owl tho. TG's second year has to be much better even losing the core of our defnse.

Last ESD we signed 11 that led to a class of 34. I wonder how many we will sign tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

By my estimation, Murphy and Hlavac are both probably PWO. It is probably a bit early to put together a signing ceremony for Miner and MacKay since both just recently committed.
I will assume anybody else today will either be a verbal or a surprise. Fair assessment?

Lots of needs left to fill but the split seems to be about 50/50 offense/defense with a few guys that excel on both sides of the ball.

Think you're right TMH. ESD goes thru Friday. Have no real idea if we're finished. Admit I do like surprises.
There likely will be another round of signings later this afternoon after classes.
Dead period 12/15 thru 1/16. 2/5 Signing Day.
