He has a chance to play close to home on a grass field, in one of the nicest FCS stadiums in the country. Why would he think about going anywhere else?
Because nobody likes to join a team with a culture of losing.

Since it’s inception, Lehigh has been the top team in the Patriot League. We had a poor coach who damaged the program. Now, we have the right guy in place to get it turned around. I believe that being a part of turning around an historically strong program, is an exciting place to be.

You left out the part where the old coach was ill and nothing was done about it! That is when the downward spiral started. JMHO

Matt is having a great season. Earning the hype

Manheim's Hayden Johnson is having himself a spectacular year. Team 5-0. 22 TDs pass plus 3 by run. Completions are 74%.

Palmerton wrapped regular season at 10-0

Matt has had a great season. He has achieved a truly remarkable career. 5000 yds passing. & 5000 yds rushing.

Cahill will have some interesting decision making to do in the future.

Right now, I'm envisioning Shafnisky/Mayes 2.0 with Machalik being a running QB that can throw and Johnson being a throwing QB that can run.

Some interesting facts:

Matt is listed at #24 in the country for scoring with 33 TDs but that doesn't account for the 14 TDs passing. He is #45 in the nation in rushing yards but he is also tied for 3rd in PA for interceptions. The young man is certainly an athlete and we may see him in the same backfield as Silbor/Johnson. We may see him as a wide receiver. He has great hands or we may see on defense but I suspect we will see him sooner than later.

For those questioning the competition, Lehigh has done extraordinarily well bringing athletes in from Pius X, Northwestern, Northern Lehigh etc.

This kid is not only an amazing athlete, he certainly appears to be a well-grounded human being who is all-in with his teammates and his community--just the kind of leader Cahill is looking for. Keep in mind he is also a great defensive back, and depending on how the other incoming QB recruits stack up, in addition to whether Silbor grows from this first year of full-time action, the coaches will have the type of 'tough decisions' coaches like to have. Higgins was a great proponent of getting your best athletes on the field regardless of position.

First player in state history to do so. Boy, I pray he keeps his commitment. Wherever he plays on the field, he is a leader!

At Lehigh he can have a remarkable year AND get a remarkable education.

Let's hope he is mature enough or gets the right guidance to see it.
