Moves well laterally, shed blockers...video doesn't show much as far as a bull rush.

+20 lbs. of weight room and he could be special.

I certainly agree with your evaluation and I'm never opposed to adding muscle however, it seems to me that his strength may be in his quickness for such a big man. I don't want to sacrifice that for the sake of size.

I got this from Go Big Recruiting

FBS Group of 5 and/or High FCS Defensive Line
Physical Measurables:
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 240 lbs.
Stats:
40yd: 4.9
Bench: 305 lbs.
Squat: 415 lbs.
Coach Keys:
May have not shown the production of an elite FBS Power 5 caliber recruit, but college coaches at this level will still scholarship athletic or high school defensive linemen with tremendous size as they believe they can coach them up into productive college players. A prospect of this caliber demonstrates consistent ability to overpower or out-quick HS offensive linemen. Displays quick-twitch get off skills. Dominates the line of scrimmage. Commands double-teams and flashes the ability to defeat those combinations. Shows good technique and has developed at least one pass rush move. Good footwork and leverage in the run game. Stuns and sheds blockers and will maintain a gap. Can penetrate gaps. Some recognition from national recruiting media. Typically All Area/All District, All Conference Selection.

Preston reportedly benches 335# and Squats 545#.

Strange thing about this class. There are very few rankings and not a lot of competitive D! offers but the measurables for many of them are really solid. I'm looking forward to see how this translates in the future.

If Preston is being recruited as a DE,adding bulk may be counterproductive. His technique is raw but his quickness is a major plus
Coach Brim can teach him techniques

Ratings and offer sheets are valid measures but not necessarily predictive of success . The overall lack of either in this class is an issue. Why did other coaches pass. We have to trust Coach Cahill's evaluations of these recruits.

Rich,

With 9 days left until signing day, do you happen to have a breakdown of recruits by position?

I have some concerns about RB. Yoder is very good and Garcia could be too if he could stay healthy and that is a big if. So far, Crossley is our only known RB recruit although Machalik may end up finding a spot there .

Working on the list. I'll do a position breakdown in a day or so.Caveat, some guessing as most played on O and D.
Think we do have another likely RB A slasher from Pa.
