2 deep

Post by van » Thu Aug 16, 2018 11:19 am

second week of camp, not to early to discuss starters and back ups, lets get some discussion going

QB Mayes of course, but Monaco or Shoup as back up, not much data on either one

RB Brags of course, not much experience behind him, Chadbourn highly recruited and Buskirk just moved to position

K Mish should handle all kicking unless one of the Frosh is a surprise

DB lot of depth and experience here, McCloskey and O'Neil should man safeties, Harris at one CB, not sure who wins the other corner spot, Floyd and Montgomery are short and Wilson has not shown much in the past, maybe Buckram in the mix

LB with new coach who knows, but Butler, Woetzel and Walker all have a lot of reps, heard a lot of good things about Haffner and Norris, should be a lot of competition for minutes

OL Fornier, Evans and Ricotilli probably starting, Wagner with experience, with Motley out maybe a Frosh gets a start?

DL Kauffman and Nace in the middle, Rybka was highly regarded coming from HS and should get reps with Morrow, Lynn at DE

TE probably some combination of Scacerra, Prendergast and Puhl depending on the formation

wish we were getting some eyes on camp

number 26 rashawn allen rb is very good. dom is a great back but will have all his stats broken by this guy. hes very good. monaco the back up and is solid. o-line is struggling big time and receivers are not separating. couple that with a rising blitzing defense and you have the perfect storm. The defense is smashing the offense every day. Mayes and Monaco dont have four seconds they have two. Secondary is athletic and are feasting on struggling o-line. Not a lot of depth at receiver so once the ones are off the secondary blankets the new guys. At this point in the season defense is usually ahead of offense but I do think there are major concerns on the o-line... at this point in the season a defnese that is blitzing a lot is considered to be cheating becaue the new o-line is still learning there assignments. It would be the equivalent of the offense running trick plays on the defense just to score. I do think the defense will be highly upgraded but I do think the o-line is a concern. They need time. depth is going to be a factor. There are some very good kids all over the offense but they need to develop quickly. If the o-line doesnt mature quickly this offense could turn in to snap and throw. Never thought a Lehigh team would have issues on offense and we would be bragging about the defense. WATCH OUT FOR 26...

datruph, thanks for the update, if #26 can break Braggs records we are set at RB for years, going into this year OL was the concern given the guys that graduated, we have always reloaded at OL pretty well, here's hoping the new guys get up to speed quick, hope the injury bug stays away

Spot on analysis. OL is reps lots of reps. Glad D is blitzing them. Lets see how OL does at last scrimmage.
Allen shouldnt surprise anyone. A 3* from Mich. Chadbourn will not give up 2 easily. He is very good.
A good D would be a novel experience here. Its been 5 years. I sure hope so.

I hope to. Healthy he is a difference maker. He was not running with the 1s at the scrimmage from what little we could see. Hope we get a bit more info after next scrimmage. Until OL shapes up Mayes may be limited to short passes. Nothing that takes time to develop.

Quick passes to WR or a back in the flat- ball control - stout running back / game ....even w a modest D we could win our fair share of games. It may not be what LU is used to but winning more than 5/6 games a year is not something we should get used to...

The way you have listed the DBs, does this mean the Rover won't bark again?
