Lehigh-Lafayette

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Yankee Stadium put a pall over tbe program that we have yet to shake. We have yet to have a complete team . Lots of good offense and excellent players but never a whole team.It has diminished expectations and certainly excitement for our team.

As more of a "neutral" fan (though I typically root for Lehigh during Lehigh/Lafayette sports events when the teams are roughly equal in quality), even I feel blah about this year's game, and it will be the first time I attend it when it is played on campus. The Mountain Hawks have been so poor this year, the Leopards continue to experience their 2010s malaise (though at least their defense is reasonably good), and both of those factors make this game feel so pedestrian, especially considering the game has usually had high stakes for one or both teams in recent years. There's a part of me that would prefer to NOT attend so I could also watch the South Florida/Temple game and all of the Syracuse/Notre Dame game instead of just the second half of it (that game along with Cincinnati/Central Florida are the two standout games on Saturday). Nonetheless, part of me is still excited to finally see this game at a campus site (along with being able to see Lehigh basketball on Friday night against Princeton).

No, no, no. I have seen very intense games right up through the early 2000's. I remember the mini-riot at Goodman in the 1990's, Lots of yelling and chants at games with antagonism. Yes, the past 8-9 years have lessened as the Leotards became weaker and weaker. Of course, since the Yankee Stadium debacle it hasn't felt the same.
Could not agree more....discredit to the program and the rivalry.

Check my location stamp. (Of course, I'm cheating a little because I'm originally from the Lehigh Valley.)

FWIW, MASN (Mid-Atlantic Sports Network) in the Baltimore/DC area usually carries 2-3 of Lafayette's football games (which are always Lafayette Sports Network-produced games, i.e. the ones shown on RCN Cable Channel 4 in the Lehigh Valley and WBPH Channel 60 in Bethlehem) during the season, and one of them they ALWAYS carry is the Lehigh/Lafayette game. In past years, I've actually watched the L-L game via the Lehigh broadcast (on the Patriot League Network) and the Lafayette broadcast (on MASN or ESPN3) at the same time. (On a related side note, I think both the Lehigh and Lafayette TV broadcast crews do a very good job, much better than most school-oriented broadcast crews, because they both only have a slight slant towards "their" school during the broadcasts.)
