I don't agree with that. I'm not saying Lehigh wants a Temple or even Fordham like turnover situation but there's nothing wrong with a guy who will come in for 5-10 years, kick some butt, and parlay the success into a FBS HC position or high-end FBS coordinator opportunity. The best/most successful coaches in league history (Higgins, Moorhead, Clawson, Duffner and Lembo) were far from "lifers". Holy Cross hired Chesney knowing full well he's not going to be there more than a recruiting cycle or two assuming the Crusaders have success.Lehigh4Life wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 2:39 pm Something you all are not considering with these candidates you are "hoping" for.... They are at FBS or high level FCS programs. Very few Patriot League Head Coaches end up Head Coaches at FBS level. Most of those guys, unless there is a compelling reason to come back to a place like Lehigh, are going to pass. The position coaches in FBS make more than Head Coaches in FCS. Also, all of these guys are going to look to Lehigh to be a passing over place, not a place to stay for a while. As we all have seen from Higgins and Coen, longevity is very important at Lehigh. Regardless of who this next head coach is, from our family or outside, it has to be a place that is not going to be a stopping ground for their next job..
I think a guy like Cramsey is more likely to bolt sooner rather than later based on history. If Golden is seriously in play I don't think he's jumping at the first, or even second, ship out of town but he wouldn't be a lifer either. Cecchini is probably the closest thing to a Coen/Biddle type coach Sterrett's going to find imo.
