Young team returns in 2018-2019 with tons of promise. Can they get back to the NCAA Tournament?

Saw a tweet this morning said pat is graduating and transferring. Just like Alston did I’m assuming

Yup. Fallon confirmed. Pat is graduating this year. Wish him the best going forward. Same as Martins and Alston. Great students and players.

Positive that Doc knew Pat's plan. Wonder what his plan is??

If I'm counting right as it stands now, we will be at 10 scholarship players for next year, 9 if Joe Foley is a walk-on. And one less is M. Wilson would transfer. Doc thinking of a late signee, Juco or graduate transfer? In any event, lots of additional opportunity for Jeameril and the incoming class.

Math is daunting Jim. Pat graduating is not a recent surprise for Doc. CB may have been and MW might be. I wonder why we only brought in 3 as Doc was aware that Pat leaving. With CB gone also, we will face a season with a very short bench.
Puzzled. :?

Where was it stated Brett knew this was the plan with pat. I don’t agree with that. I think pat was going to stay. Not sure what changed

No trav. I'm just asking the question. Doc had to be aware of the situation. If, Pat was undecided, certainly very little Doc could do one way or the other.
At base, what can Doc do now. Pat and Caleb are gone. Marques an open question but hopefully returning. What,if any ,options are there going forward?

Doc found James late. And Acevino, though certainly not elite, can play a bit. There's only so much you can control in these situations. Bucknell also lost Sestina to graduate transfer. So this isn't just a Lehigh problem. What we need is an "IVANAUSKAS" type solution.

+1
We've had a lot of transfer and early grads leave, about time we get one to come here. :D

Sestina is a very different situation. He stayed at Bucknell four years but had a year of eligibility left due to an injury. Bucknell's administration is very much against a player staying for a 5th year and very rarely will approve it. In football, for example, Bucknell has not had one 5th year player in about 20 years, while most PL schools have had 50+. Not sure if Sestina tried for a 5th year but if he did, his chances were almost nil from the start. Only possible chance - but not realistic - would be to do a Master's program in Education or Engineering - neither of which is his major. They won't allow a player to gain a 5th year by switching to a double major, and they won't allow a Master's candidate unless he can convince them he is serious about the program.

One example of Bucknell's attitude towards 5th year athletes is the case of wrestler Tom Sleigh. He was a three-time NCAA qualifier and finished 2nd in EIWA as a junior. He lost a year to injury and wanted to return. But got no cooperation from the Bucknell administration and ended up transferring to VA Tech where he had a nice season and qualified for his 4th NCAA.
