7 Down / 7 To Go

I thought it might be interesting to see where we are today and where the Coaches, by way of their Preseason Poll, thought we might be by season’s end. Take a look…………

Team / After 11 Games / Preseason Poll

Bucky / 1st at 9-2 / 2nd
LU / 2nd at 8-3 / 1st
CU / 3rd at 6-5 / 3rd
AWP / 4th / 6-5 / 6th
AU / 5th at 6-5 / 7th
Navy / 6th at 5-6 / 8th
LOM / 7th at 4-7 / 10th
BU / 8th at 4-7 / 4th
HC / 9th at 4-7 / 5th
LC / 10th at 3-8 / 9th

BU and HC fans must be scratching their collective heads as they ask themselves what went wrong. The rest of us, with perhaps the exception of Loyola, can’t be too surprised and simply look to better position ourselves for the Tournament that begins on Tuesday, March 5th.
The question today’s top five contenders (those with 6 W’s to date) must be asking is, “How do catch Bucky?” With but seven games to play, the answer in most cases is, “Win-out and hope for upsets.” In our case, it begins tomorrow in what must be considered a “must win” over Navy. Assuming Bucky gets by the visiting Terriers of BU on Saturday, it nicely sets up our visit to Lewisburg on Monday as a chance to get the spread in the Standing down to one game. From there, maybe anything is possible over the final five games, as both Bucky and us play three of our final five away from home. Should we catch the Bison by season’s end, it doesn’t end there. With identical records, the League’s tie-breaker rules come into play. Losing a pair to Colgate, as we have done and knowing that Bucky can do no worse than achieve a split with the Raiders, doesn’t help our case one bit. It gets complicated but fun to watch how it plays out.

My guess, and understand its only a guess, is that Pat is injured. Or getting over the flu or something.

Needed only one ticket for Saturday as my better half is out of town. Good seats are NOT still available. At least not many that are in the lower level. Looks like a good crowd expected. Hopefully a rebounding home team that treasures the ball will also show up.

Andree showed up for you Van... in a big way. 22 points in 25 minutes (strange to see him pulled so much in the second half could have been much more as Navy had no answer for him... guess you need to be a guard on this team to get to pad your stats in a blowout) 7 boards, 3 assists, Kieran held to 2 points on free throws and Navy bigs with a total of 10 points. Good all around win for this squad and real nice performance from Andree.

yes, glad to see Pat back to his normal, this team is much tougher when he is on

as to his minutes not really so strange in a blow out win, he has a solid back up to spell him in JW, the three guards have to share one back up (CB) although frosh JF is getting some minutes now and should get more minutes as he gets more experience, MW's absence causing starting guards minutes to go up
