Gate unanimous pick for 1st. Bucknell 2nd.
Gate unanimous pick for 1st. Bucknell 2nd.
Re: Preseason predictions
Will be interesting to see what the PL coaches see in their preseason rankings.
Re: Preseason predictions
given the # of new faces and youth it would be hard to argue with 4th, time to overachieve
Re: Preseason predictions
Rich didn't show the overall average rankings from those three publications that I posted on the BU website. It looks like this:
Average prediction of the three publications:
1.0 Colgate
2.0 Bucknell
3.0 American
4.7 Lehigh
5.3 Boston
6.3 Army
6.7 Loyola
8.0 Lafayette
8.7 Navy
9.3 Holy Cross
I have a feeling that Loyola didn't get full credit for the likely contributions of its freshman class, espcially the two big Spaniards. And Boston U may not have received full credit for the return of Walter Whyte, who should be healthy after missing all of last year. Hopefully that will be offset by Joe Jones' coaching.

Re: Preseason predictions
Too lazy to type all your research on my phone. Should have credited you tho. Sorry.
Re: Preseason predictions
With Ivanauskas, Burns, Rayman and Langel all back its hard to pick against the Raiders. If they win our tournament again (I wouldn't bet against it) they will be a very real problem for someone in the first round of the NCAA's.
As for us, I lay my hopes on Quinn McDowell, a new coaching voice. William & Mary graduate and standout Griffin class of 2012. Played in the European pros for 3 or 4 years before 3 years of small college coaching. This year more than ever with this huge freshman class, we need great coaching. Young and accomplished player at our level with pro experience, hopefully this coaching hire adds what we need on the bench.
Every year I like the new guys on paper. This year is no different. Particularly Alamudun, Taylor, and Betlow.
My way too early starting five:
Betlow (or M Wilson) (1)......Cohen (2)..... Alamudun (or Taylor) (3).....J Wilson (4).......Karnick (5)
Looking at the pre-league schedule, I'll be thrilled if we win 4 games (not counting the unfortunate D3 games). In the league, I think 11 and 7 is doable. If we get great coaching, no injuries, and improve during the year, our tournament could be interesting. Unless we get Colgate in the first round.
In summary, expectations are low but with all this new young blood it should be an interesting season. Besides, back in 2008 who outside of Ohio ever heard of this McCollum kid? You just never know until November......
