Albany...game#2

Post by jimk72 » Sat Nov 09, 2019 6:38 am

For those who follow Ken Pomeroy, we have been labeled an 8 point underdog tonight. Albany Great Danes rated at #154 in NCAA divison 1, Lehigh at #238. Danes predicted to win 20 games this year per Kenpom. Still early for our very young team. Hopefully the freshmen won't be ga-ga eyed the first 12 minutes again. And the veterans play a bit more team ball.

Game is 7PM on ESPN3 for those who stream and subscribe. Is Lehigh65 around? He always does a great pregame analysis here.

Critical we dont create a pattern of digging holes then scampering to climb back out. Continuity of focus has been an ongoing issue for us over the years. A short bench without Nic but we need to show up for the whole game.

A W. 74-70. Hung on during a big 2nd half from Albany. We led for most of this game.

Saw the game on ESPN3. Are any of these ever easy? Heart rate just now coming down. We made the last 7 minutes a lot tougher than they had to be as we let a 17 point lead slip away. The increased Albany pressure you would expect (down 17) came, causing unforced errors and some bad possession decisions in the melt down. And if we had any kind of 3 point shooting night this might have been a walk. But overall a much better brand of team basketball tonight on both offense and defense.

Karnick almost unstoppable with marvelous feeds around the basket from Cohen and others. Both Wilsons with significant contributions. Stats not available on ESPN as of 9:30, but this had to be one of our best offensive rebounding nights in a long time.

In summary, we really don't know what have yet and won't know for awhile. Still a lot to fix. But they play hard and have lots of potential. We will probably get drilled by V-Tech, Auburn, and St. Marys but this will be a fun group to watch all year, with plenty of upside.

Didn't see the game, but looking at the box score it is great to see so many contributors!
