American Game #9

Post by van » Mon Jan 27, 2020 12:22 pm

well, one of our 2 PL wins was at home against the Eagles, but as a road team we have really struggled, on the other hand American has been solid other than being upset by us and 2 losses to league favorite Colgate, seems like a tall order for the guys tonight on national TV, American looking to solidify their #2 seed and we are looking to stay out of the basement

no news on JK and ET injuries but I suspect that neither suit up tonight

The Big Hurt

With JK and ET wearing boots along the sidelines, we’re missing some big-time production. When, if ever, will they return? In time for the playoffs which begin on Feb. 3 or perhaps at the start of the 2020-21 season. Just what are the numbers? Try……………
55.3 mpg (29.2 for JK and 26.1 for ET)
20.9 ppg (12.4 for JK and 8.5 for ET)
11.5 rpg (7.6 for JK and 3.9 for ET)`

Stats Worth Mentioning

KenPom has slotted LU into the 302nd slot in all of D-1 b’ball. The universe, as most know, consists of 353 teams. We began play back on November 2nd ranked 228th.

KP also tells us that LU season-long shooting percentages are:
2’s: 48.8% (182nd in the nation). In PL action alone, we rank 9th @ 48.1%
3’s: 34.7% (104th in the nation). In PL action alone, we top the list @38.7%.
FTs: 76.5% (28th in the nation). In PL action alone, we top the list @78.7%

49/39/79% so not sound like numbers for a near last place team, get rid of the occasional bad shot selection and those #s could be even better, turnovers still my pet peeve

I’m at the game tonight. Pretty good start for the guys in brown.

I actually received 4 free tickets for this game through my girlfriend, but unfortunately I only knew I’d get them earlier today, so I couldn’t share them with anybody. I’ll try to represent 4 people cheering for Lehigh tonight.

Lehigh trails American 29-24 at halftime. The Mountain Hawks’ offense has been atrocious.

I’ll add that James Karnik is not at Bender Arena tonight.

Gassed in the 2nd. Final. 77-57. L
Without Karnik and Taylor I dont see any Ws coming up. We absolutely cannot shoot from anywhere.

The defense was also not good in the 2nd half (and was shaky in the 1st half but AU missed some layups).

How many years is this in a row with little depth?

How many full scholarships are offered in MBB?

On the scholarships, I believe a team in D1 is allowed 13. Lehigh usually carries 12. Jack Lieb counts as 1 so we have 11 on scholly who can play: 5 frosh, 2 sophs, 2 juniors, 2 seniors.

On last night, I thought the defense in the first half and early 2nd half was fine. Yes American missed some bunnies early, but for the most part they had few open looks. J. Wilson in particular really stepped up in my opinion, and we flew around pretty well. But I have never, never, ever seen us shoot the ball this poorly. Beyond belief bad. And mid to late 2nd half when we could not buy a basket, or a free throw (for gosh sake), they hit a couple 3's and we gave up the ghost.

I have no answers. But I'm still a fan and plan to be there Saturday.
