3 pt. Shooting Percentage – HC @ 37.9%....LU sits in 4th place @ 36.0%

Life Without Karnick (JK) and Taylor (ET)

Player Last Seen Against Games Missed
JK 1/5/20 LOM 7
ET 1/22/20 HC 2

The hurt can be measured in many ways. Here are just three:

Minutes per Game: 29.2 for JK and 26.1 for ET or a combined 28% of team minutes/game
Point per Game: 12.4 for JK and 8.5 for ET or a combined 31% of team points/game
Rebounds per Game: 7.6 for JK and 3.9 for ET or a combined 34% of rebounds/game

9 Down and 9 to GO

Thanks to a quirk in the schedule, Lehigh will play Army and Colgate twice in the final nine, having already gone up against Navy and American twice in the first nine conference games. We’ll enjoy the home court advantage 5 times – with the first one coming tomorrow.

With no clear sign of either JK or ET returning anytime soon (please may I be wrong), our aim might well be to secure home court advantage in Round One of the PL Playoffs. Those contests will tip-off on Tuesday night, March 3rd, when #10 plays at #6 and #8 travels to #7. Who knows, with 32 days to go and the return of one or both players, we could make some noise come March. Stranger things have happened…..I think.

I think you meant to say that #10 plays at #7 and #9 travels to #8 in the first round.

A couple of things worth noting about Army:

1. Army has won five games in a row, three of them on the road.
2. If Tommy Funk continues to play as he has recently, he may be in the conversation for 1st team All-PL. Second team for sure. His 3-point shooting has been awful but everything else great. During their streak, he has averaged 20 pg and 8 apg while playing 39 mpg. Has made over 60% of his two-point attempts.
3. Army is a mediocre 3-point shooting team - but they are #2 in the nation on two-pointers.
4. Center Matt Wilson is shooting 67.2% from the field for the season - and over 70% in PL games - giving him a chance to set the all-time PL record for a year. There is almost no player in the PL who can guard him without help, but Army doesn't do a good job isolating him. He is averaging almost 17 ppg in PL play - 20 ppg during the winning streak - but it could be higher with better utilization.

Wow. No research, but gonna guess BU has never been favored at Bucky before.

That is correct. In fact it is the first time in over a decade that Bucknell has been an underdog to any PL team at home.

79-80. An L
So so close. Had 2 clean shots ate the end for the W. No joy. Lynch showed up on O finally. 25 pts 13 reb. Everyone contributed. A few brain spasms along the way that hurt us. We played an entire game. Perhaps. Maybe. This team starting ti jell.

Funk was out of his mind good, our guys played with a lot of heart, tough loss but encouraged by the effort and progress, short bench is showing in the last 5 minutes

Tremendous game to watch. Veteran, hot, and much improved Black Knights against the home standing out-manned young Hawks. We played perhaps our best half of the year in the first 20 minutes. Fought a full 40 and actually came back and had the momentum at the end. The last one just would not go down.

A look at the box tells you it was a career night for Lynch, but he was even better than the stats in a heavy duty fight underneath against a parade of Army bigs. Nic put in 35 minutes and seemed fresh at the end. Hopefully the extra minutes with Karnik on the shelf have added confidence. He seems to be rounding into shape after the unfortunate layoff first semester. And really good team effort all around.

Completely disagree with those who say we don't have 3 point shooters. With proper spacing AND the confidence/green light to shoot Fenton & Taylor will do just fine. Fenton (6 of 9 from 3) looked fearless taking the
shot that got it us to 80-77. We do have some nice young talent. And we know about Cohen when he's hot.

Hats off to Senior Tom Funk who shot the lights out from 3 (7 of 9!). Very few uncontested. But as mentioned in coach's post game, once again we had 2 or 3 brain farts on defensive assignments (that gave Army two or three easy dunks) and two bone head passes that cost us possessions.

We all hate morally victories. This certainly wasn't one. But was this game a step forward? It'll be interesting to see how the team responds Wednesday night when we welcome The Red Raiders of the Chenango Valley. After last night, I'll take the points. And hope I won't need them.

I can't be the only one to witness this, can I? That's Karnik and Taylor BOOTLESS and lookling fit at the top of the key during Pregame Warmups cheering on the 8 who would just minutes later take on the Cadets of Army. Just one step - perhaps a small step - closer to making their return. February 3rd is still a date of great imporance to we the fans and I can't help but think to these two guys, as well.
