Doc has a 50/50 career. A couple of great seasons...a couple of terrible ones. All the rest are a muddle of middling years,mostly frustrating for fans.
This has been the bar and I dint expect it will change.

One never knows why a coach leaves but I would say Gilmore.

Here's the thing though. Lehigh is far more concerned with developing young men and women through athletics than wins and losses. Yes, the Administration would prefer winning and celebrates winning, but it is typically not the top priority much to the chagrin of the fanbase.

Fran Troyan IMO, is one of the few that manages to accomplish both on a consistent basis.

A college athletics program should emphasize not losing a potential excellent student because he/she cannot participate in the sport. Which is why a "the State University of" should have at least every sport the State HSAA offers. And when the sport is at the D1(maybe also D2) level there should be a club equivalent additionally. At Lehigh that means all the PIAA sports (so we need to add Mens Volleyball and Women's wresting, which is happening), and look at all the sports in surrounding and popular (like California, Conn, Mas) states.

I agree with Justafan. As much as people grumble, the record under Doc has been better than what Lehigh has been, historically, in basketball. He represents the University excellently in recruiting, when being interviewed by various media, as well as requiring academic achievement. Lehigh has never been a sports 'factory' with the emphasis on having to win championships. The academic experience has always taken precedence, and it should. The athletic part of the experience at Lehigh is to learn leadership, teamwork, and the ability to time manage those demands with the academics. Always playing to win is important. Playing at a D-1 level provides such challenges and makes the victories much sweeter than being a perennial big fish with smaller schools. As long as we are competitive, fighting hard on the court or field, and running a 'clean' program, most coaches will be safe at Lehigh.
