Young team returns in 2018-2019 with tons of promise. Can they get back to the NCAA Tournament?

Vegas and Bethlehem are both casino towns, right? Hard choice.

One thing many haven't noticed is how mediocre UNLV has become. This past season Bucknell played them in the Diamond Head Classic and beat them 97-72 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score. That game really started a revolt among their fans - demanding a coaching change. Despite doing a bit better in league play, they ended up ranked #165 in the country. They haven't made the top 100 since 2014. They did make a coaching change after the season ended.

As a Lehigh alum and the son of a Bucknell Bison (and grew up five miles from Lewisburg) I take great interest in both teams. Except during two games a year of course. And UNLV was a great win for the program. That said, Ohio State was "the one that got away" last year. Similar to Maryland the year before.

But if you cherish the legitimate student/athlete atmosphere in the Patriot, these games prove this league's better teams are just a notch below the power five's. And at times clearly better than the lower half of the elite conferences. All despite the obvious academic recruiting restrictions.

No doubt we need a large forward for this class. Surprised they are willing to go to the full compliment of 13 schollies, assuming we get three in the class of 2020.
