We're #1 in 3's

Young team returns in 2018-2019 with tons of promise. Can they get back to the NCAA Tournament?

We're #1 in 3's

It is not often we get to tout a stat showing NCAA supremicy. But here ya go.....afer 10 games or approximately 1/3rd our scheduled events, the Lehigh Mointain Hawks, at .450 (100 for 220), rank 1st among the 353 D1 teams in 3pt. FG%.

That is a tremendous pct, and it will be interesting to see if they can sustain it in PL play. I'm surprised the team doesn't shoot more threes. It only ranks 182nd nationally in the ratio of 3-point attempts to total FGA's. With a 50% success rate, you'd think they'd shoot significantly more of the threes. The pct would go down some, but overall production would go up - especially considering that they only hit about 47% on twos..

Always scares me when teams rely on just the 3 ball. We've played decent on ball defense on most occasions. But the defensive rebounding has to improve if we expect to do anything special this year. We have the muscle to do it, but we have to stay aggressive and focused on giving up just one shot. We've had some bad games in this department. And The Mountaineers will be a stern test.

And to our shaggy Bison friend; your percentage isn't so shabby either. This should be a very tight race beginning Wednesday.

shooting high % on 3's because they are taking very few contested or NBA length, shooting more not the answer keep playing smart team ball like Doc preaches

I cringe about 'living on the three'. Especially when we are struggling on rebounding.. There will be nights when the treys don't fall. One would also think teams scouting will be adjusting--which, hopefully, opens up the paint for more in close chances.
