How KenPom Sees It

Bucky (10-7/4-1) Ranked 149th
@
LU (11-5/4-1) Ranked 152th
LU wins by 4 (82-78)

Around the PL on Saturday
Navy @ Army (Army by 5)
Loyola @ Holy Cross (HC by 10)
Lafayette @ American (AU by 10)
Colgate @ Boston U. (BU by 1)

Random Thoughts
KP sees all the home teams winning as they have in 19 of their previous 25 contests this year. When it comes to Lehigh, that steak goes back to the start of the 2018-19 campaign as we go for number 8 tomorrow afternoon. How sweet a win would be, looking ahead and knowing that all good things must come to an end. And that applies, big time, in the PL. LU will soon pack their bags and head out on the road. In the second set of six league games, which kicks off on Wednesday with a trip to Navy, we’ll play 3 of 6 away from the friendly confines of Stabler. In the final set of six, we play 4 on the road – including visits to the not so friendly confines of the Sojka Pavilion out in Lewisburg and The Roof up in Boston.

Plenty of time to make their move

Army – 4 points away from a perfect 5 and 0 start
Game 1….One point loss to Bucky
Game 4….Three point loss to Loyola
Games 2, 3, and 5….All W’s
That March 2nd contest out in Lewisburg could be very telling.

Boston University – Now a disappointing 2 and 3 and find themselves in a 5-way tie for 5th but own a win over Bucky and play at home in three of their next four.

Navy – Back to back wins to start the season over CU and HC and sit comfortably in a 3rd place tie with Army. The Midshipmen will be at home for 5 out of 6 beginning Feb. 6th.

Colgate – While they may be a somewhat disappointing 2 and 3, they own a W over us and can look forward to playing 3 of their last 4 at home – including a visit by the Bison

You gotta love the PL!

James Karnick – Gaining Confidence with Each Outing

I have two tickets section 18, Row II, seats 1 & 2. Due to time change I can't use them (work). Any loyal Lehigh fans who want them please e-mail me at jlkurtz68@gmail.com. I will email pdf's back, no charge. First come, first served.

A little bit of a frustrating first half. Over 50% from the field and a ridiculous 8/10 from 3 offset by giving up a 30% offensive rebound rate (Bucknell collected 6 offensive boards on 19 misses) and 9 turnovers. Going to need to tighten up the little things in the second half or else Lehigh has to shoot about 70% to win.

Well, the shooting came back down to earth and they fixed the turnovers in the second half, but not the rebounding. Tough to win when your opponent gets an extra 7 FGA from offensive boards and you lose the overall battle 41-29. Doesn't matter if you outshoot them percentage wise if you give them that many extra shots. For how many years has rebounding been an issue? Very frustrating.

guys need to toughen up a bit on the boards, Buffs worked harder for those rebounds, our guys flat footed too often

Very courageous late comeback by the MHawks. Unfortunately, Bucknell kid went end-to-end as time expired to win it. Both teams played well, refs were decent but missed a key obvious goaltending call and a late foul on a Karnik layup. Tejada missed a decent portion of he second half with foul trouble, as did Andree who forced a couple of shots late.

Very fun game to watch. They need to give JWilson a bit more time--he can help on the boards. As can Ed Charles once he gets back into game shape.

M Wilson isn't injured, he has personal issues at home that will likely keep him out for the rest of the season. My favorite player on the team; I'll miss him.

Couldn't see the whole game, but what I did seemed to confirm that this team CAN win the PL. It needs to put full games together, but the talent is there to win. Bucky, HC and LU it appears to be. Not a bad loss IF they learn from it.
