Lehigh 14 Iowa 28

The Lehigh MASH unit continued it's foray into the meat grinder, but won three bouts with two majors and a fall. The outmanned light weights got shut out with no pre-season starter appearing until Kutler at 174, who won 12-3, though over a Hawkeye sub. Andrew Price, subbing for Preisch at 184 almost knocked off #14 Wilkie, losing in sudden victory, 6-4. Jakobsen got a fall in 1:01 and Wood majored their backup at 284. Humphreys lost to #8 Young, 4-1, so he is getting some real experience that should pay dividends down the road. Hopefully, we get Karam, Preisch back by South Beach. Parker and Walter are probably still question marks, and way to early to even think that Schram and Schuyler could appear by February.

Disastrous season having lost every dual. Kutler's TD was Lehigh's first in forever and most bouts they're just hoping to keep it to a major. The wheels are off and have been for some time. South Beach duals will be much the same with or without "starters".

Duals don't matter. "We want national champs!" I wonder if that message, or something similar, is still on the wrestling room wall.

Heard the Schulyer may try and wrestle at the Wilkes OPen in 10 days. That would be amazing if he is ready to go. A month ago there was significant doubt he'd wrestle at all this season.

It is a long, brutal season. No sport compares in terms of physical and mental demands. These are special kids.

Always have to kick the dog? What is wrong with the observation? A cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
