Interesting post from over at TheMat.com collegiate forum...

Post by D3 for LU » Mon Nov 04, 2019 6:48 pm

This from an ARMY/WestPoint fan and fellow WRforum poster , cptafw163 who now post over at TheMat as Cptafw164(he blamed fat fingers for changing 3 to 4 on his username ;) )

Check it out:

EIWA: Princeton open and Wisc/Fresno duals in San Diego

Princeton seemed to lose a step from last year.

Cornell (FLWC) recruiting class lives up to the hype with the NJ pipeline.

Columbia's Kazmir is much improved and can be seeded top 2 or 3 at EIWAs.

Lehigh has some work to do solidifying their lineup if they want to win EIWAs. Hoffman lost some momentum from freestyle when he beat kolodzik to lose by MD at the OPEN. Weiler doesn't look as good at 184 than he did at 197, losing to an Army backup who won the title at 184.

Army is legitimately a frontrunner for the EIWA title and is DEEP at several weights. Lehigh Dual will be highly anticipated by EIWA fans and is a LATE season dual with high conf seeding implications. Army seems to have more options to play with the lineup than Lehigh has (141, 157, 165, 184, 197). Army back-ups at those weights can win against lehigh starters and are insurance in case Army Starters are injured. If it comes to back-up v back-up at those weights due to unforeseen circumstances, Army has the edge at those weights.

So what says yee-all about the above? :|
The start of the season for LU was slightly underwhelming, no?

Is this Army fan a little overwhelming in his assessment?

Army is vying to be the most annoying EIWA team.

Is there a trophy for that to go with their dual meet champion trophy?

I did my best to put him in his place last year following EIWAs. Below is a watered down version that I posted on TheMat...

Much of the back-and-forth banter he and I had on the old WR.com site has been deleted (by the admins?).
As a Lehigh alum, I’m a big EIWA fan. However, beyond the top three, the conference is really weak. Even Army, with their 10 EIWA podium place winners, only had 3 place in the top four.

Without knowing much about Army line-up, must ask who are the 2 Army West Point guys at 157 better than Humphreys (NCAA rd 12)?

This is true: Army has one of the largest rosters in the EIWA (a free latte at EIWAs to anyone who can post which team has the largest roster without looking it up); they sent 32 guys to the Princeton Open and their starters were in California. They are especially deep at the upper weights -- enough 197 and 285 wrestlers for three teams. Along with Princeton they have the most veteran team in the conference and they were the only team to place all ten wrestlers at the last EIWA tournament. Four of their starters are ranked ahead of ours. They don't redshirt, so everyone is available to compete at any time. I used to notice that a lot of the guys who went to Army Prep first never showed up on the roster; those days are past.

Our coaches don't take them lightly: One guy who thought Army might finish ahead of Lehigh at EIWAs this past March was Pat Santoro. Duals and tournaments are scored differently.

As far as them winning the EIWA dual meet title last year -- the EIWA website has posted a table showing dual meet standings since JJH was doing the math and the posting. What do you think it's been there for? Would you rather Cornell finish on top and chortle about it? Last season was the first time Army ever came out on top, and good for them.

Their coach wears brown shoes with blue pants and questions every call. How many Army Cadets does it take to change a tire? Just one, but he gets four hours credit and it counts as a lab science!

And he's beaten Navy three years in a row. The Academy probably wishes all their coaches did the same.
