Re: Cornell's strategy
Good question!
I'm thinking, not.
Extra muscle + wrestling @ 65Kg... natural progression of things.
Trusting his technique... looking like 149 next season, imho.

Sir, a pint of you finest ale, please!
Never argue with an idiot... he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Re: Cornell's strategy
Quite a freshman class
Re: Cornell's strategy
It's gonna get a little crowded on the bench --
125: Dominic Lajoie (2 years remaining); Greg D. (true freshman)
133: Arujau (3); Phillip Moomey (3-4); Chayse Lajoie (true freshman); Wilson (3-4)
141: Yianni D. (2); Moore (3-4)
149: Richard (1); Sanders (true freshman); McClenahan (true freshman)
157: Yapoujian (3-1/2); Santoro (1)
165: Ramirez (4); Brindley (3); Merola (3)
174: Foca (4); Reiniche (4); Berreyesa (2)
184: Dean (2); Loew (3)
197: Darmstadt (2); Cardenas (4); Hatcher (true freshman - 220)
285: Fernandes (4); Furman (2); Janney (2-3)
Every one of those guys was a highly touted recruit; most are IM Top 100 or (much) better. More than one guy's going to be pulling splinters out of their butts.

Re: Cornell's strategy
If Yianni goes 149, then Saunders might go 141 (he wrestled 145 this year?). Or maybe JJ Wilson (they need a new JJ).

Re: Cornell's strategy
While getting a Cornell degree. Cardenas might be the highest ranked recruit to not start in the country. I'm guessing he knew the situation when he accepted. Then again, maybe he can beat Darmstadt (and then you have a (probable) 2xAA who can't make the team).

Re: Cornell's strategy
The strategy is to out-recruit your competitors. The result is the line-up.
From the looks of it, Cornell is doing a pretty good job of implementing their strategy. Will they do it as well as the top of the Big 10 and Okla. State, Ariz. State etc? Time will tell. Losing to Princeton is only a speed bump.
