I watched that match on ESPN and came away thinking that Trampe is a really good wrestler. I don't think I've seen him in action before.

I guess there's a reason why IM carried him with a high ranking while he was out of the line-up. It also makes Brandon Paetazell's 3rd. place win last year look even better.

I'd hate to have to pick between Farro and Lane, but as bad Farro's last 3 losses have been, they're all vs pretty good wrestlers, esp. Miller who the Bucknell announcers said was recruited by Lehigh. And, Farro has wrestled the harder competition.

In the quickly changing wrestlestat rankings...

#44 Lane 12-6

Wins:
151 Watts, 40 Bergelin, 218 Kidd, 77 Koehler, 111 Cummings, 155, Carson, 218 Kidd, 160 Clabaugh, 242 Maddox, 77 Koehler, 68 Wright, 133 Hetrick

Losses:
24 Fehlman, 22 Orrine, 29 Turner, 7 Bravo-Young, 7 Bravo-Young, 30 Manley

#54 Farro 7-7

Wins:
183 Frezza, 35 Hart, 145 Campbell, 138 Gliva, 39 Pierson, 24 Fehlman, 11 Alvarez

Losses:
51 Miller, 60 Wert, 63 Allen, 10 Tucker, 8 Phillipi, 32 Madrigal, 117 Kramer

The trend is not good, though...

I think the jury's out on Trampe, yesterday notwithstanding. He did well taking Tucker into OT, but Tucker seems to be able to wrestle up to stronger competition but also to be able to wrestle down to weaker competition. Farro took Tucker into OT too.

Trampe won a PA AAA state title in 2017; 2nd as a soph; 166-22 career record. He redshirted as a true freshman (light 3-1 record), then went 16-6 with a 4th place finish at EIWAs (losses to Terao and Paetzell) and a ticket to NCAAs (won a bout there). Not bad, but none of that should rank someone in the top 10.

He began this year 6-0, winning the Binghamton tourney and two duals before missing two months. His best win was over Jarrett Trombley of NC State; he also beat Darren Miller (Bucknell) and Andrew Wert (AWP) and those wins are starting to look better. Wert looks like he's won Army's starting job. Still nothing to rank a guy top 10. During his time off he climbed in some polls and dropped out of others. Since his return he pinned Josh Vega (American, just up from 125), beat Miller again and then had the SV loss to Tucker.

He's definitely not bad, if I had to rank him today I'd probably place him in the 20s somewhere. I don't think he's done enough yet to be ranked in the low teens but that doesn't mean he's not that good, just that he hasn't proved it yet. Unless something changes in the next eight days he'll probably draw the 2nd seed at EIWAs.

Meyer, if continuing his improvement, should surprise some at the EIWA's. :)

Hartman pinned Humphreys who returned the favor at EIWAs winning 12-6 in the finals...

I know you're not supposed to take much from close losses, but I thought Brian Meyer really came to wrestle vs Bucknell. The announcers (who were pretty good, actually) quickly went from talking a Hartman bonus to hoping that Hartman would survive and get the W.

I still think the best 165 in the conference is Phil Conigliaro.
Your absolutely correct, Hubs!
(Curse my flip-floppy/dyslexic memory :P )
tanxs for pointing that out, sir! 8-)

I hear ya D3, I suffer from CRAFT syndrome myself. "Can't remember an effing thing".

And speaking of Cornell-Binghamton and the EIWA seeds, Louie Deprez laid a beat down on Jonathan Loeh yesterday and Darmstadt continued his reign of terror by pinning Louie's bro in the 1st. period (I think it was).

To some of the fellow posters here, the choice (in their opinion) is clear.
(Yeah, like mud! :P )
And, your analysis between Farro & Lane is good... Farro had better ranked wins than Lane (82 to 138) while lane ave ranked losses are tougher than Farro's (20 to 49.)
The coaching staff will have a tough decision ahead of them come EIWA time.
Agree... Farro's recent trendline isn't encouraging, to be sure.

Andrew Wert just beat Darren Miller 3-2; stock rising.
