Simulation of NCAA

Post by Lehighsam » Fri Mar 20, 2020 4:21 pm

Quant Wrestling is doing a computer simulation of the NCAA Wrestling tournament.
Trackwrestling is reportng the results.
Going into tonight's Blood Round.
Believe it or not! Penn State is winning!
We are currently in 10th place with a chance for 4 AAs.
Quant wrestling software has produced some interesting upsets.
It liked Farro but no appreciation of Paetzell

133: Farro lost to PITT's Phillipi in the blood-round consis, 13-6.
No AA for you, Nick.
(Close but no cigar for Big Red's Tucker... lost in the blood-rnd consi to Wyoming's Bridges, F 2:36. The very same Montorie Bridges whom lost to Paetzell @ 133 the previous season. )
157: Humphrey's lost to Iowa St's Carr in the blood-round consis, 12-5.
No AA for you, too, Josh.
(Salt in wound... Princeton's Monday does win his blood-rnd consi and becomes an AA. Only to be beaten by ISU's Carr, 15-7 and falls into 7th/8th Pl.bout.)
174: Welp! Kutler made it into the finals w/ a close 9-6 wbd over Skatzka of Minny in the SF... guess who he gets in that finals?
Yep... the nit's Hall.
Will the monkey on the backs of all B&W wrestlers who went up against Hall and came up lacking before, FINALLY get over that hump and take him WHEN IT REALLY COUNTS?!?
We'll
Find
Out! :P
(PS... ASU's Anthony Valencia finally gets his AA, as he's in the 7th/8th bout.)
285: Wood gets into the AA rnd w/ a vengeance!
After losing (again) to Stevenson of Minny 13-6 in the QF, Wood beats Andrews of Wyoming, 13-9 (wild one)in the blood-rnd. HE THEN BEATS ASU's Hall by MAJOR D, 8-0 and is presently in the consi SF.
LEHIGH is currently in 9th place w/42.5 points.
They are currently wrestling the consis SF now... Glory of Princeton is in the 3rd/4th place bout as he won.

The Medal rnd consis have concluded... Jordan Wood came in 3RD w/ a 3-0 blanking of Iowa's Cassioppi.
Jordan won a wild one vs Hilger of Wisc. 14-13 in the consi SF @ 285.

EIWA hilites:
125: Princeton's Glory got 3RD...
149: Princeton's Kolodzik got 5th and his "4th" AA medal.
157: Princeton's Monday gets 8th... The Tigers nab three AA's.
184: Deprez gets 5th for Binghamton... no, we didn't hear his Mom screaming at the top of her lungs over the internet. :P (However, they're still ringing in my ears since the EIWA's! )
197: Darmstadt gets the ONLY AA medal for the Big Red, coming in 8TH! Apparently, he got out funked by Geer of Okie St.
285: Slavikouski of Harvard proves he is "REAL" w/ an 8th plc finish.
LEHIGH's still in 9th w/47 pts.
Princeton is in 11th w/40 pts.
Cornell is in 30th w/13.5 pts.
Binghamton is in 31st w/11 pts.
Single digits for the rest of the EIWA crew.

In general, it doesn't look great for the conference. (make believe and all that. :P )

I believe Tucker as well as Paetzell beat Montorie Bridges. 1 TD match, I think.

Wood vs Cassioppi would have been a great one to watch.

Last year we had 10 A/A's and 7 additional R-12's. But that really happened. If the EIWA could come close to matching that without Cornell's three A/A's who are ORS, can we really complain?

"Princeton 125-pounder Pat Glory, Nebraska 141-pounder Chad Red and Virginia Tech 184-pounder Hunter Bolen demonstrated great virtual heart, each battling back with six consecutive consolation wins to take third after getting knocked off in the second round. "

"Great virtual heart". Doesn't Dick Cheney have one of those now?

Reminiscent of "Outstanding moral fiber" in the fourth Harry Potter movie.

According to Wrestlestat, Brandon Paetzell beats Corbin Meink 8-5. I guess with Kolat leaving for Navy in the middle of the tournament, Meink showed a burst of energy he normally lacks. Maybe he wants to transfer to Navy along with his coach.

Or maybe virtual Paetzell was hit with a dose of virtual flu, explaining his virtual 1st-round loss.

And Humphreys beats Barone 11-4. Weiler 8-6 over Waddell.

I see some WBF 0:00 notations. Glad to know that the virtual tournament has some of Track's real glitches; makes it more realistic.

Tucker beat Bridges twice this year: 4-1 and 3-2. Paetzell won 3-1 last year.
