For what its worth. I think Strobel Landed 4 whales. Trenge and Letters of course. Pirozzola, David Craig. I guess Grey would have been 5.

Frick and Mark L were Turner's whales.

I don't know that Pat has landed a Whale

Obviously a lot of Orcas (Bobby Weaver and Darian were to small to be whales)

2 Moby Dicks that I can think of Spencer Lee and Kyle Snyder. Maybe Yianni, Maybe Cael.(I really don't think any of the other 4 time NCAA guys were thought likely 4 timers.

This is a VERY solid group of kids arriving this Summer; no one on this Forum knows what grants they've received:

165/174--Lawrence, Thayne--- PA AA 3,1,1,2  (120-15)  IM #26
149/157--Bryant IV, Manzona-- (OH) Prep 2,2 IM #37, Beast 1, Jr Nat 3
133--------Munch, Drew--------- Nat Prep 1,3,2 IM #67, Ironman 1 (5 WBFs)
125/133--Barnabae, Chris------ (MD) Nat Prep 2,3,3,3 IM #87, Beast 6,8,5
125--------Seymour, Sheldon--- PA AA 4,1,1 IM #83, Pan Am Cadet Gold (1 of 2 for U.S. both styles)
184--------Davis, JT-------------- DE 5,3,1,1
165/174--Herceg, Connor------ PA  AAA 8,3
149/157--Sung, Tyler----------- CT 1, 1, N.Engl 1
141/49----Storm, Steven------ PA AAA 7
197/285---Moore, TJ----------- PA AAA 7
174/84----Wright, Caden------ PA AAA 8

Below is the prior class arreved Aug '19-- the one which caused Pat to caution us not to expect too much (above).

Against the odds, both the above & below are remarkable classes because we don't tend to land 4-5 Top 100s in any year, let alone back-to-back. All but a very few jock schools tend to have off-years on a regular basis (eg: LU, CU both have 3 unranked classes the last 9 yrs; Mich 4; NCS 5).

So give our freakin' staff a break and show some patience -- our 2nd commit below was July 12 ... the 1 guy (Dec '17), Connor as soph said: "I'm going Big 10 - that's where the best coaches & wrestlers are." Yet despite dumb-ass rumors last season, Mac happily returns to Lehigh this Fall..... last August Ruth was going anywhere but Lehigh but Pat showed up at the family home and within 2 days Mom raved about PJ; Edmond was ours..... Jake Logan could have gone anywhere, as could Malyke Hines. All four belong to us - and not by accident or by fan whim.

This is great recruiting w/out benefit of being an Ivy or throwing Power 5 money around the table.

#34- Connor McGonagle (132), NH 1,1,1,1; N.Eng 2,1,1,1; NHSCA 1,2,1,3; Jr Nat 4; Beast 3, 3 Dec. ‘17
#45- Jake Logan (182), NY 4,1,1 (80-0 last 2); Cad Nat Free 6,2; Cad World Trials 7; East. States 1,1 Sep 7
#63- Malyke Hines (138), FL 3,1,1,1; NHSCA 1; Jr Nat 8; Cadet Nat 4; Super 32 5th July 26 (’18)
#64- Edmond Ruth (165/70), PA 8,1,1,2 (105 straight wins)…… NHSCA 1,5,4 Aug. 27
Louden Haga (Hwt), WV 2,2,2,1; Cadet National Free 2; NHSCA 2 in ’17; Ironman 4 in ‘18 July 12
Paul Watkins (138), GA 3,2,3,1; NHSCA 4, Cadet Greco 8 Aug. 2
Nathan Haubert (145), PA 4,1,7 …. sr, Distr 2 (inj 1st half) Aug. 21
Luca Frinzi (165/174) District 1, PA 7,4

We are not talking about the last 2 years as we acknowledged 2 good classes. We are simply focused on next year & looking at the top ranked guys signing elsewhere. Unlike last year where there was low expectation, there should be several likely scholarships abailable based on Weiler departure & several graduating senior starters.

We don't know the specifics of Lehigh's aid situation. Weiler graduated in four years. Had he continued at Lehigh as a graduate student his support may have come from a source beyond the 9.9. The same is true of Jakobsen, Wood, Karam, and Paetzell -- at this point we don't know who's a graduate student and may be receiving aid from other sources. So the no-need aid that they received as undergrads may already be committed.

Point well taken & perhaps how we landed a couple of the Top 100’s we got this past year including a couple 2 time state champs.

>>>>>>> Rich; IMO anyone who earns AA honors is a whale. But I get what you are saying about hs credentials. Still and all, under Strobel you'd have to add Cooperman, Frick and Zinck wouldn't you? Also I think Strobel recruited Zach Rey.

Thad landed Pat Sculley, Kilrain, Mike Lieberman, DeStito, Yozzo, Diekel and Reilly who was a stud out of hs.

Pat landed Milonas, Meys, both Cruz boys, Kutler, Weiler -- all studs coming out of hs.

LU has always had it's share.

Pat Sculley...and Tom.

Pat was actually better than Tom but wasn't much of a student.

Coop/Diekel transferred. I wouldn't include Mike Liebs- he certainly became quite good but he never won Preps and this is back in a different era of Prep strength. Not sure where to include Kilrain- not super out of HS but soared at Blair as a PG. This paragraph aside, I would have included most of what you added.

>>> Tom recruited by Leeman. He was admitted in spring of 1970 before Thad became coach.... or about the same time as Thad worked NCAAs for Leckonby on the house knowing he was going to be the next coach.

Thad might be the only coach to ever work a state tournament one week and then NCAAs the next. (Think they were that close together)
