In any other sport, I would agree with you. In fact, I noticed in other sports a couple of athletes who were on the the committed list were not on the official roster this year.

Wrestling, at Lehigh is already a five year commitment for most. Perhaps there is a tendency to not wait until 24 to earn their first paycheck. At least, they will be able to continue to train like a normal redshirt year. Just a thought.

I agree with all that. It's just that's not how some schools play the game anymore. Some of our competitors will have greyshirt years, redshirt years, and Olympic redshirt years and take seven years to get through college, if they don't get injured and apply for med hardship years. Arizona State's 285 this past year was a 2011 high school graduate; does an in-bout attack of rheumatism count against injury time?

Within (somewhat) recent memory Cornell's Jerry Rinaldi suited up while he was still 17. That seems so archaic today.

**** With Jordan Wood looking to take an Olympic Redshirt Year, 285 should come down to LaCombe and Haga. LaCombe has done ok (around a 500 record), but will need to step it up to have any impact. Haga is very strong but is very much on the short side for a 285, which could be an issue with Cornell having the tall/lanky Fernandez in the lineup. I think it will be Haga as he has much better credentials although being injured last season during his RS year may have potentially impacted his growth. Hopefully he is both athletic and aggressive, as well as strong.

Redshirts for Lehigh's two best wrestlers makes sense considering the strong likelihood of no season. Should there be a season Lehigh's team will struggle.

Do we award Spanish gold ounces for whale sightings? Just wondering.
