WASHINGTON, NJ John David Rhinehart, Sr., 70, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on February 16th,1951, to the late Sally (Nilsson) and Frank Rhinehart of Washington, John enjoyed living in his hometown for his entire life. Starting at a young age, his father introduced him, along with his sister Gail, and brothers Rick, Rob, and Scott, to sports. After a successful high school career in both football and wrestling at Warren Hills Regional High School, he earned a full athletic scholarship to Lehigh University for both sports. In 1972 he married his college sweetheart, Vicki (Sbriscia) Rhinehart and they had 4 children of their own: Toni Ann Smith of Washington, J.D. Rhinehart of Bethlehem Township PA, David Rhinehart of Washington, and Jarod Rhinehart of Oxford. Family would be one of the major foundations of his life along with his Faith in God and love of youth sports. He enjoyed coaching youth programs for all of his kids and later in life continued his own love of sports with golfing regularly with Family and Friends. His last true love would then come in the form of his 13 grandchildren that loved their "Poppers" dearly. The only thing that would make him miss a tee time would be attending one of the many sporting events or special occasions of his grandkids. He so enjoyed every second spent with Jacob, Ava, Emma, Rylee, Davey, Ethan, Naomi, Jax, Griffin, Travis, Lincoln, Kira, and Camryn. His quiet, calming demeanor and comforting smile will be missed deeply by everyone who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30am on Friday October 22, 2021, at the Washington Faith Discovery Church, 33 Brass Castle Rd, Washington, NJ 07882. In Lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to the Washington Y Wrestling Club or Washington Township Panthers Football programs that brought him so much enjoyment and which his children and grandchildren were and continue to be participants of. We Love you Johnny.

Sad news. My teammate, we came in together, and one of the strongest guys you'll ever meet. At a dual meet at Navy in 1970, his tight waist broke the ribs of his opponent. I'll forever remember him as a gentle, kind person.
RIP.
