The hard to imagine part is a kid giving up wrestling for pretty much any top 20 D1 team in the country to wrestle for a who gives a crap D1-AA football program. Who cares how far they went, almost played Montana etc…..Choosing the dim lights over the bright lights is always an interesting choice…..

But maybe wrestling for him is just training for football and has no passion for it…..hard to say but definitely a “unique” choice to end up at Lafayette….it’s like Charlie Woods deciding instead of golfing at Stanford he’d going to play tennis for Kutztown…..

It's genuinely a mind-boggling choice. Not just because we hate Lafayette. He is a multiple state champ, not just a standout dual-sport guy.

I could see him dropping wrestling to focus on playing football IF he was going to play on the big stage, on an FBS team and pursue a dream of playing in the NFL - fine. But Lafayette is just an FCS team, whether they're hot right now or not. What is he really going to accomplish there, compared with what he can accomplish elsewhere.

HENCKEL got his sights set on either Rutgers OR Cornell. He had his official visit to RU the night they wrestled VT.

Yea Whiz,..my reaction as well! And if he's that focused on playing FOOTBALL next season, why even wrestle THIS season,.. and risk ACL/rotator-cuff injury just for sake of another title! :o

Also I would imagine he is passing up significant NIL money to play football for Lafayette versus wrestling for a top 20 D1 program……I would guess he lasts one year there, if he enrolls there……

If we don't land any of these top guys in this class, things are truly in a dire situation. Kinney going to Lafayette is just such a kick in the teeth. I don't know if we are at the point of "Save Lehigh Wrestling", but we're not far off.

I suspect Sean has made a good decision if his passion is football and playing local. Might hurt to us but Lehigh football needs some serious overhaul.

Yep Lehigh has not sniffed the Playoffs in the last 15 years, except for 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017. and 2012 when they clearly deserved a playoff but but nobody wanted to host Lehigh in the first round, until coach Coen's health went down.

Was Pards Troxell a HS wrestler? College?

Picked the right school and right sport. Good get for the Pards who lose Olmstead and Barr to graduation.

I don't remember him wrestling. He's Greg Troxell's cousin. I think he played BBall.
