Lehigh needs to throw the executive package at Waters of FCA. Hasn't committed yet and has a photo with his dad from last year's nationals where his dad is wearing a lehigh shirt. Bet the house on that kid.

I really can't understand how this kid could have been a such a superstar in high school and so mediocre in college. Maybe he made some kind of faustian bargain.

One word: Ruth

That said they certainly expected more from Logan and Lawrence, that’s 3 misses at definte projected starters for 2 weights all about the same time period….. all have struggled mightily or left for differing reasons

Ruth came in 2019-2020. He had challenges pretty early on and left. No legitimate replacement aside from Lawrence. Guess they put all the eggs in that basket.

Re-read what i wrote and realize a school like Lehigh needs to hit on the “top” recruits they target and get….. those were 3 big Grade A recruits at those weights, damn close to whales (okay maybe dolphins )that didn’t work out for differing reasons….. we aren’t PSU, there is a price to be paid for three large misses, no matter the reason why they miss (injury, transfer etc)…....

I understand that without rereading. We got 133s and 141s but I guess 165:and 174 are harder for us.

We recruited. Almost all the 165 to 184 were State or National Champions at some point in high school. Sometimes the skill set isn't there for the college level where every match is the state final.

Steve Rohn for the Navy match was talking about his brother Rob Rohn. He said when Rob was in college, he asked why he wrestled it close for some wrestlers that "supposedly" were average wrestler. Steve stated something to the fact that Rob said, "You don't understand, you cannot make one mistake or any guy at D1 level will make you pay for it."

Given the current athletes, Lehigh needs the graduate portal this year to land 165 to 184 whether they crack the lineup or not. So any graduate transfer who is ranked Top 20 should be looked at by Lehigh coaching staff.

125 to 157 next year will all be Top 20 ranked, possibly all Top 15.
197 and 285 will be Top 8 ranked.

This leaves a giant donut hole in the middle. Landing 3 would be best, landing at least another Top 20 like Samuleson is the minimum.

Spot on.
Ruth - currently one of the top in the country at that weight.
Logan and Lawrence both highly rated state champs in HS.
If anything, that’s over recruiting the weight. Just some really, really bad luck.

He's only a sophomore. Can start talking to him in Summer after he completes Sophomore year.
