ASU Postmortem

Post by mookie » Sun Feb 25, 2024 9:12 am

125: ASU's 125 lb. Richard Figueroa was the No. 1 pound-for-pound recruit in America and ranked as the second overall recruit in the class of 2021. He only lost twice in high school and was a three-time Californian state champion. He's also defeated Purdue's #1 Matt Ramos. Stanich was right there with him but just had too much rust to work off.

133: Seymour is one of Lehigh's MVP's. All he does is show up for work whenever his number is called. No coddling is required.

141: Hines just isn't strong enough to be competitive against better competition.

149: Munch got thrown to the wolves.

157: Brignola has gotten the absolute most out of his talent.

165: Logan - we've seen his movie many, many times.

174: Herceg is doing his best.

184: Wilt wins the Most Improved Wrestler award. Just gets better and better.

197: Scary to think where Lehigh would be without Michael Beard.

285: Long way to travel for Nathan to not wrestle.

Pretty good analysis Mookie. Can’t say I disagree with almost anything you wrote. 125 is so interesting. Going to come down to who is on that weekend. There is no clear top guy for sure. Stanich sitting out more than wrestling definitely did not help this season. Midlands showed he can play and win with the big boys. Hoping he can have 2 more great weekends ahead. I do believe Hines can AA if he is on that weekend. But strength is definitely something he is lacking vs the top guys.
