Adding the 5 Patriot League teams by special affiliation to the ACC does work mathematically, academically, and logically.
It is not unprecedented because Notre Dame is affiliated in everything but football. So, the ACC could do it if they saw fit. But would they? Notre Dame has a tad bit more stature than the PL. We can only hope the prestige of both service academies and Lehigh’s tradition in wrestling would be difference makers.

Bruce’s idea has merit and I hope it happens.
The remaining 6: F&M, Drexel, Binghamton, Hofstra, LUI and Sacred Heart will be left scrambling.

Who from Lehigh is capable of approaching the ACC with a proposal?

Not approaching ACC would imply that we don’t want tough competition throughout the season.

It supports that mantra of “It’s all about March” mindset. So we qualify a bunch of guys if we stay in EIWA vs top performers only if in the ACC.

Not to mention the upgrade in dual schedule to put some enthusiasm in Grace Hall.

Hoping Mookie challenge will be embraced!!!

A bit premature, no? First step would be to see if Army, Navy, Bucknell and American are on board, along with Lehigh admin.

>>>>>>> Worship the ACC if it floats your boat, but the facts are this year the EIWA teams, sans the Ivys, earned more NCAA qualifier spots than the ACC.

The ACC will improve when it adds Stanford, but it will still be conf similar in quality to the downsized EIWA. In addition to Lehigh, Army, Navy, Bing, Buck and F&M all produced multiple qualifiers this season.

Better approach is to work on building the EIWA rather than running hat in hand to a conf that will probably implode when the B1G and SEC expand again.

I suppose if Joe Aliva were still the AD at Duke, Sterrett could approach him. LOL

The only non full member the ACC has likely ever had is Notre Dame. Obviously ND football. Other Special programs would likely be the service academies. If the Army + Navy wanted to go there maybe they we could can an invite. Would they invite Bucknell and American? maybe as playmates for Duke.

A ten team tournament is better to run than a twelve.

ACC is some where between very unlikely and a fantasy.

11 + 1(Morgan ST) + 2(Rider G Mason) seems a better bet.

Wow am I excited to add Rider/George Mason & Morgan St.

What great schools to align with. Recruits will really be impressed with that lineup of great schools.

I would take the Army/Navy Lehigh transfer but likely it’s all 5 Patriot league teams or none which could kill the deal.

Granted this plan is a fantasy but one can only dream big to improve. Ivy League decision should be banned from Grace Hall!! Schedule ACC teams instead of them as a compromise.

The boo birds should be out next weekend aimed at Columbia coach that started this whole mess. Understand Reina was the last holdout & should be spared our wrath.

Somebody will emerge as a 4th with good recruiting in EIWA in 2025.
I do not worry that EIWA can get 4 qualifiers at every weight in 2025.
Binghamton is likely beneficiary of loss of Ivy. Bucknell could become more competitive.
All the schools will be recruiting the heck out of PA, NJ, NY. Even if you recruit a 4th from these states, somebody is going to get lucky with a young man still in development who emerges in college.

No worries for EIWA. They will pick up 1-3 schools in the conference realignments.
