I wonder if Leete of American will be the first wrestler at NCAA blind enough to require a touch start?

On the Intermat forum Cowcards (whoever that is) started a trivia topic. One of the questions was about blind wrestlers at NCAAs. A while back one won some bouts. Could be far enough back before they implemented this rule.

So please explain how he was walking around the arena unaided but required touch starts and 100% contact.

Magic glasses? Vito was pissed off wrestling that dude. Odd as it sounds, anyone wrestling him is at a disadvantage.

I saw him walking around after, and they sure looked like Magic glasses….. they were huge and thick and made his eyes look about triple normal size…….my son picked him out right away by way he was walking around

He definitely had major vision problems. Was asking his coaches for updates on time and score as he couldn't read the clock no more than 10 feet from him.

Knocked out of National Preps my junior year by a blind kid. Had never wrestled one and had no idea about touch starts. After 3 attempts at pushing him away on the whistle and the ref lecturing me about the rules the kid hits a high C off the whistle that would have taken Cael Sanderson down. He hit 2 more on me later on. Lesson learned....too late as it were.

Yeah - for a guy like Arujau that doesn't like to wrestle from tie-ups, it had to be very frustrating. He had to wrestle a completely different way than what he was used to.
