Well-established prior to EIWAs that the Ivies had 23 spots and the rest of the league had 30 = 53 This is not counting any wildcards that will be issued.

Finalists: 10 Ivy 10 EIWA
3/4 bouts: 9 Ivy 11 EIWA
5/6 bouts: 9 Ivy 11 EIWA
7/8 bouts: 6 Ivy 14 EIWA

Total Placers: 34/80 = 42.5% IVY 46/80 = 57.5% EIWA
% of teams: 6/17 = 35.3% Ivy 11/17 = 64.7% EIWA

The Ivy teams out performed their share by 7.2% --- the EIWA teams under performed by 7.2%

There is no empirical data to suggest the Ivies dominated anything. Cornell dominated, but was off-set by Lehigh's domination. These facts seem to support Florida Guy's position regarding next year's EIWA.

A case can be made that this hurts the Ivies more than they may have calculated and why coach Grey referenced "building it up" in his post tournament interview. It also leads me to believe, Cornell was the ring leader.

The remaining EIWA teams have potential. Lehigh< Army and Navy will be the core teams. Bucknell (being in PA) and BInghamton have the best chance to add quality. F&M made some strides this year with a couple of ranked guys, so that's a positive. American and Drexel have to pick it up. LIU improved incrementally and got their 1st NCAA qualifier. Hofstra was a major disappointment and they can do better. Sacred Heart has a nice women's program.

The split will reduce the EIWA from a powerhouse an it will get less attention, but it will still be better than several conferences. Look at Pac12 with 6 teams. The tournament seems like a joke to confirm a few top notch guys.

If OrSU does not have a permanent home, invite them as a "Temporary Honorary" member. Like Spencer Tracy.

Coaches may as one person said be concerned about injuries, but what better preparation for nationals than to have a full tournament like this with 4 matches to the championship.

Injuries? The Big 10 and Big 12 don't care. That's not the reason. It's about exclusivity and keeping the Ivy brand intact.

Yeah that makes more sense to me, but someone suggested coaches might have gone along with it since there was less a chance of injuries. In the end, maybe coaches' opinions had no weight in the matter anyway?

Ok. Watched it one more time, this time with semi-annoying soundtrack of Flo-jabber off, and realize how little I like that essential ingredient of Vito’s style—the constant mosquito buzz-hum of hands to the face and similar attempts to distract—and how much I like Crookham’s stolid dour stolidity in rejecting them. Wheras there is the cornbelt tractorboy push-push-push to the edge effort to get stalling called, there’s Vito’s buzz-buzz-buzz similar attempts.
