Well since they are now weighing in we'll start a new session thread.......first up appears to be Luke Stanich on mat 1 ........then Ryan Crookham on deck on mat 6....

Being pessimistic and then accepting loss is no way to fan.......expect better or at least wrestling to seed and gauge your feelings as a fan after the match......being defeatist quite honestly sucks.......

I had no problem with the losses yesterday, it was how we lost them.......little offense and attempts at offense for the most part from our wrestlers who lost......if you're going to lose go down giving it your best shot, for the most part felt like we didn't do that.....

Dr. Spladle, I am sure you are right that this is a defense mechanism and I will take this under advisement. At the same time, the above was mostly a joke, and I didn't think I was really being pessimistic on the other post by saying these are toss-up matches and not to take them for granted. But point taken sir

Seriously now, coming in -- did anyone really believe 'The Little 4' would advance? Whatever W's happened would've been total gravy. I thought maybe Hines and Max would win 1 cons bout. Oh well. 'The Big 4' is where we all knew our hopes rested. With #2 Stanich going down -- that stung -- but really not totally unexpected if we're being honest.

Stanich's learning curve in in front of him this morning. They're all tough from here on out.

I like Crookham over Bailey. IMO, he's on a mission. Beard over Elam. FB Schultz over Taylor based on experience. Hope I'm wrong. Taylor has the size to match FB so ya never know.

If we get 2 into the semis, is that bad?

Dr Spladle.......nope, didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last nite, nor have I played one on TV and sure don't have the degree......gotta pass on that

I think it would be great ... really don't care if they all lose as long as they all come out and let it fly.......just not a repeat of yesterday please.....

I, on the other hand, am always too optimistic. I do see some big challenges today though. Still thinking Stanich, Beard and Crookham are slight favorites this morning. Taylor is an underdog, but Schulz is not looking great and has shown himself to be beatable.

Quick EIWA summary (from a quick look, so sorry if I'm off a little) --

Of the 62 qualifiers (61 were able to compete) 37 are still alive.

9 Quarterfinalists, also meaning 9 in the R-12 round.

Those in the consis right now need to win two to make it to the R-12, three to A/A.

Bucknell has 4 of 5 qualifiers still alive. Navy has 5 of 5. Fitting in a somewhat topsy-turvy year, the first EIWA win yesterday was notched by LIU's D'Alesio, who is also LIU's first-ever Div I qualifier. He then lost two, so LIU's tournament is over.

Someone, maybe on Intermat, noted the love that Columbia has received from the commentators. Columbia qualified 4, 3 still alive. Their four wins have all come against EIWA competitors, including two that the Lion wrestlers beat at EIWAs.

Last year the EIWA had 55 qualifiers, 7 A/As and 6 additional R-12s.

Just goes to show how difficult this tournament is. We used to note how well we were going to do, until the brackets came out.

Taylor's a perfect example. If someone had told us in October that he'd be the 5th seed in March, we'd have run out to buy some of what he was smoking. He got the 5th seed. All he then had to do to place at NCAAs was beat 2x qualifier Trevor Tinker, then the winner of the Konner Doucet (also a 2x qualifier) / Dayton Pitzer bout, and then take out 3-time A/A Cohlton Schultz. That's all.
