There are some exciting new baseball players coming to Lehigh next year. Since the off season is upon us, I thought I would present a few....starting with

Gerard Sweeney from Shipley HS

AB R H RBI BA
67 30 39 39 .582

In the league championship game, he went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles, a grand slam 3 runs and 6 RBI

A big fella who hits and plays 3rd.
How does Humes predict for us as a P?

Funny, I was going to post the #s on Humes tonight. I'm not sure he will pitch for us. We have soft good depth there. His hitting #s will get him noticed though

Cole Humes, also from Shipley HS

I think this is accurate

AB H R RBI AVG
83 38 32 47 .458 as of May 10

Hi folks,

Dad of an incoming Freshman this year. Just poking around to see how the team looks and to say hi.

Question for you all - it looks like only 3 LHP are returning from last season (non-Srs). Are there a few good ones incoming or is this a bit of a thin spot?

Thanks.

Welcome,
There are 3 LHP in the current recruiting class

Luke Rettig from the same general area, I think (Oxford HS)
Matthew Stamford from Chatham HS in NJ.
Cole Humes, Shipley (same HS as Sweeney)...just a guess which one may be your son :-)

Rettig had an ERA of 0.64 as of May 24
Stamford had an ERA of 0.88
I'm not sure about Cole's pitching stats but he carries a big stick too.

Hi Gerard,

Nope, my son is not a recruit but he did pitch for a few years so we tend to pay attention to that aspect a bit more closely. And as a 6'5" lefty, he tends to get attention so I was prodding him about whether he would consider a walk-on tryout (I will admit I miss watching him pitch and the size/LHP combo has taunted me for years). If the team was thin, I would have passed that on to him but this looks like a strong group so I'll leave him to his own decisions. Most likely I'll be down next spring to catch a game with him.

Thanks for the reply and nice to meet you.
