John Hughes resigns as associate head coach

Post by jdalu75 » Thu Nov 21, 2019 10:16 am

Evidently decided yesterday, announced today. I can't remember a case since Leeman where one of our coaches stepped down in-season.

It’s sad to see him go. He’s been a part of the program for awhile and there’s consensus he added value. At the same time, this does give Santoro an opportunity to inject some new blood into the room and realign this position whatever need is most pressing now. Interested to see who the replacement is.

Hoping that he got another offer too good to turn down. I don't want to consider the alternatives.

"Personal reasons" doesn't sound like another offer.

How about Rob Koll?

Hughes practices were rugged. He will be missed.

**** I am very sorry to hear this. I was in the room only last Tuesday with my son Jake. John like usual, came over and talked and took the time to point out all the new wrestlers. I hope everything is ok. John is a class act and I wish him well in whatever he does next.

Quality coach. I thought for years he should have been putting his name in as PSAC school head coaching opportunities were opening at Clarion, Edinboro, Lock Haven, Bloomsburg.

Just hope all is well and he has something to transistion into.
I would hope Zach Rey is elevated and Chance Marstellar becomes Volunteer Coach or Darian Cruz.

Lehigh needs new blood, new ideas from outside the program. This is an opportunity to kickstart things and get out of the 10 -15 national rank rut.
