Stanford
Re: Stanford
Distressing to me that the sport we all love barely has a pulse.
Re: Stanford
I had thought wrestling had a specific endowment
Re: Stanford
Is this the shape of things to come?
Covid-19 has really messed things up for all of us.
(... and Stanford wrestling had some success from time to time as well. A sad story that repeats again for our sport.)

Re: Stanford
Didn't Kerry McCoy just accept the position to run their RTC? Hope he didn't move. That's BS as this was in the works and someone should have said something. Hope Kerry will not be hurt financially by this.
Re: Stanford
I can't find it for some reason but he just posted on FB a very positive and uplifting message about it.
Re: Stanford
So Lehigh now has more sports than Stanford? (Sounds like a certain NY real estate guy cheering that when the twin towers came down, his building was now the largest in lower Manhattan)
In 2005, they ripped down their 90,000 seat stadium (held the super bowl at least once) and replaced it with a 50,000 seat stadium. Probably cost them as much as operating these sports for another decade.

Re: Stanford
Not quite. Stanford just trimmed from 36 to 25. I believe Lehigh still lists 24 sports.
Ironically, I recently posted in another thread how Stanford was able to maintain 36 sports at the time, winning 128 NCAA Championships while being a Top 5/6 University with a 5% acceptance rate.

I guess now we know how they could do it. They couldn't.TMH wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 10:52 am Not quite. Stanford just trimmed from 36 to 25. I believe Lehigh still lists 24 sports.

Re: Stanford
M+W CC,I+O TF is usually counted as six sports. They are actually going from 38 to 27, and we have 26.TMH wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 10:52 am Not quite. Stanford just trimmed from 36 to 25. I believe Lehigh still lists 24 sports.

However they were counting LTW mens and womens Rowing as separate sports. We usually field at least a light 4 shell for M_W, so we have 28
Also Calling Stanford top 5 or 6. Not on who they admit. Cal Tech, Columbia?
