Nittany Lion Wrestling Club

Post by mookie » Wed Oct 21, 2020 9:31 am

The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club hosted its second dual on Tuesday night, with 12 freestyle matches. Streamed live on something called Rofkin.

Wondering why the LVWC doesn't consider hosting their own duals?

Not sure how to answer, but I can poll the other 20 or so established clubs nationally.

None of them host a duals event, either, I believe.

Last I heard the NLWC set the record for largest single Club gift, around $6 mil

I was hospitalized for a suspected Coronavirus. But doctors soon realized that it was only a Saturday night fever and I will be staying alive.

I actually had Saturday Night (Christmas) Fever each of my 3 years of HS wrestling. Bad cases of flu,Junior year was really horrible. Could not hold down any food, save ginger ale, for 48 hours. Sure made it easy to make weight the rest of the season.

Has LVWC had a Sr. National Champion other than the one time by Zach Rey?
How about for Cadet, Junior, University U23?

Just doesn't seem to be competitive.

Being competitive in freestyle starts with being competitive in folkstyle. PSU, CU, IOwa, tOSU, OkSU is where the NCAA champs are so it makes sense they will have guys in the hunt for Olympic berths. Our one recent guy, DCruz has improved but size is a factor. DCruz should be proud of how he has developed in freestyle. One weight lower (the old 114.5) and LU probably has an Olympian. Is it really reasonable to expect NCAA 4ths, 5ths and lower to compete against guys like Dake with 4 titles, Nolf with 3 titles, etc? IMO that's an unreasonable expectation. The LVWC has done well but is not top tier at this time. College recruiting - and NCAA success at the highest level - is the feeder program, so to speak, for future freestyle success.

ICYMI: Without the RTC, Lehigh would not be recruiting as well as they are.
