Wrestle-Offs Thursday Night!

Post by ngineer » Tue Oct 30, 2018 11:02 pm

Although never the 'final' decision, Thursday's wrestle offs should provide some fireworks at several weight classes. Transfer former All-American Connor Schram, while given the inside track, could face some spirited challenge; a wilde open 149 weight class due to Schuyler's injury will be of great focus as I imagine a couple 141 pounders have been eating well this past week. Another tight match between Weiler and Jakaobsen at 197 should be in the offing. Hoping for a nice crowd, as we only have one home dual before next semester.

Schuyler recently underwent shoulder surgery. His season and probably his career are likely over.

Dang. That is a shame.
Thanks TMH. Tough end for Schuyler.

Certainly want as strong a lineup as possible for the Hawkeyes and the Nit-pickers. Some good wrestling last night. the Walter/Wolf match was very good. Walter looks more confident and beating Wolf is not easy for anyone. Eyebrow raiser with Gentile edging Jakobson. Weiler just edges Jake, so good to see tight competition. Kutler and Preisch skated with major decisons and Wood look good. Four starters sat out: Schram, Parker, Karam and Weiler (not including Schuyler). Will be interesting to see how 141 shakes out as I suspect a few are eyeing beefing up to 149, now. If Pomrinca can't beat Karam, I think he as the frame to do that.
