2020 Recruiting
Re: 2020 Recruiting
Herceg lost 2-1 OT in the Dual Meet Finals with Waynesburg, which Nazareth won sot of Comfortably,
But Waynesburg has no Seniors (remember they beat Beca last night,
Note Notre Dame GP has no seniors.
Note, Becahi finished 3rd, But did they luck out that Gettysburg HS was knocked in Consi of 8 #2. Gettysburg has 7 girls, OK 6 haven't wrestled varsity, but the 113 pounder is good, Still if they could have fielded 7 against Beca they win, Pretty sure Coach Haines would not do that.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Andrew Cerniglia of Notre Dame is a senior and will be wrestling for Navy next year
Re: 2020 Recruiting
Believe that Herceg lost at 170 to the Waynesburg wrestler not at 160 but not sure about that.
Notre Dame has a couple of underclassman that would look good in Brown and White at Grace/Stabler for their college careers!!

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Yes the Bout was at 170, Although both wrestled a lot at 160. Herceg, had his opponents leg for a long time but could not convert, Hell of an effort to fight it off
Re: 2020 Recruiting
Nazareth elected to move almost their entire team down for the team duals. Herceg only wrestled one match at 160 vs Dallastown then moved back up to face Augustine at 170. Conversely Augustine spent most of the season at 160 and only recently moved up to 170. I was wondering if this was strategic on the part of both coaches or whether one or the other has difficulty maintaining 160 at this point of the season.
I mention this only because Lehigh lacks real depth at 165. Lawrence will help there next year but I wondered if Herceg could get to and maintain that weight. I guess we'll learn more at sectionals.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Thayne Lawrence has shown no ill-effects from his injury winning his 4th Section 3 title today (I think) with a quick pin and two 15-0 TFs.
The WPIAL individual tournament begins tomorrow

Per the Stamford Advocate
New Canaan’s Tyler Sung captured his third straight FCIAC title by beating Warde’s Cole Shaugnessey, 7-2, in the 152-pound final.
Sung, who was recovering from an injury for much of the season, wrestled in only five matches since returning to the mats 10 days ago, but ran the tournament table. He was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the upper weights.
“Going out there I felt great,” Sung said. “I think some people were nervous with me just coming back, but getting in there, I just focused on my game plan and didn’t change anything up. It was a tough match and he’s a lot better than last year, but it doesn’t change what I’m going to do. I’m going to perform at my best.”

Re: 2020 Recruiting
There was some wrestling action this weekend involving Lehigh recruits:
After winning sectionals on Friday, Thayne Lawrence became a 4 X WPIAL champion on Saturday
Sheldon Seymour pinned his way through the District 4 , North Section Tournament
TJ Moore won the District 3 Section 1 Tournament. I believe he moves right on to the South Central Regionals from here.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Sean Kilrain (yes his son) won the NJ/NY/Tn (don't ask) qualifier yesterday. He's applied.

The DNA is certainly solid!
