Re: U23 Nationals

There is a narrative, to use FL Guy's term, that explains many of these posts. There are less than 80 D1 teams left. It really shouldn't be that difficult to recruit quality talent. Everyone agrees LU needs more elite recruits. Here are some of the excuses used: * Don't qualify academically * Don't...

Re: U23 Nationals

>>>>>>. Reply to spladie: Beard’s total body of work is a more valid, informative comparison and shows definite improvement at Lehigh. Beard was 18-8 with 13 bonus wins at psu. He is 51-9 with 42 bonus wins at Lehigh. His winning % and bonus % are both significantly higher at Lehigh. Cherry picking...

Re: U23 Nationals

Sorry Spladle but I disagree. 2019 Beard wrestled strictly tournaments. His biggest win was against Chris Weiler at the Mat-Town 2020 Again, only Open Tournaments. Biggest win #13 Dakota Greer. 2021 That was his AA Year when he went 10-6 2022 Open Tournaments again. Biggest win #18 Cameron Caffrey T...

Re: Exceeding Expectations

I'm not sure what your point is. That tape was 2 years ago. Lopes loses in the last seconds to a 3 X Ohio State Champion who looked much bigger than him. Actually Joy is now wrestling 150. BTW, does anyone know whether Sheldon loses weight to wrestle yet. I still remember hearing how excited Darian ...

Re: Recruits 2024-2025

I suppose a top 15 weight senior class ranking means 'something' --- but probably very little if you think it's a difference maker of rising as a program. You need your fair share of top 3 senior class. I think you know that. I think you misunderstood if you were referring to my post. Next year we ...

Re: U23 Nationals

That's why recruiting is so important. There is only so much development that takes place in college. Look at Ryan Crookham as an example. His game is essentially unchanged from his freshman year in high school. I don't disagree at all but I wonder if this is a relatively new phenomena. Recruits ar...

Re: U23 Nationals

Yes and no,,,,,,,,Lehigh didn't "develop" Michael Beard.......all the credit for recruiting him but he was an AA when he arrived with seemingly title contender potential......so he actually went backwards for one year and is now back to about where he was before he arrived..... I think pe...

Re: Exceeding Expectations

Schoppe was my pick also. I've touted him often this year if healthy. Tough as nail. I believe he wrestled the state tournament with a broken hand in his junior year. I'm pretty sure, he will be at 174# this year. My other pick may be Kelvin Griffin, who also exceeded expectations last year. He went...

Exceeding Expectations

This is the dead time of the year. Every season, there appears to be a wrestler that exceeds all expectations. Last season it was Luke Stanich The prior year, it was Connor McGonagle Before that, it was AJ Burkhart and Max Brignola In the Covid year, it was Brandon Praetzell. Expectations differ for...
