Mason Black

Is certainly living up to hype in his first game of the season

Through 5 innings, he would be perfect except for a fielding error with 11 strikeouts.

Check out this excellent scouting report on Mason Black for the upcoming MLB draft

https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2020/10/ ... ason-black

Keep in mind that Black still has another year of eligibility at Lehigh but I don't see him being here for that.
This scout (Seattle Mariners) projects him as the 4th college pitcher to be taken.

Side note:
If/when Black decides to take his act to the professional level, he will be the 4th Lehigh pitcher playing in the minor leagues at various levels. The other 3 (Washington, Stout and Reynolds) are currently 7-1 with a combined 2.45 ERA and avg > a strikeout an inning.

A school can develop a reputation this way.

Mason has made his long awaited debut and it was worth it.

He is playing for the Single A San Jose Giants. In his 1st game, he pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball, giving up no runs and striking out 7.

For those who like to follow Lehigh players in the pros, I will later provide links to all 5 pitchers we now have in minor league baseball.
